Updated polls don't give Louisville football fans much to celebrate

Before the season started, the Louisville football team wasn't getting a lot of respect. They weren't ranked in the initial top 25 polls and weren't picked to finish in the top four of the ACC. That was surprising considering the Cardinals played for an ACC Championship a year ago.

Things have changed in the last two weeks after back-to-back impressive performances. Louisville has won games 62-0 and 49-14. After the first win, they moved to 22nd in the polls. After the second win, they were up at 19. They were on a bye this week so they didn't get a chance to impress voters.

Because of that, the Louisville Cardinals didn't move at all in the polls after Week 3. They stayed right at that 19th position that they had occupied the week before. Even with some teams around them not having a great performance, they don't get to move up.

The Louisville football team stays where they are in the polls

19th is a good spot for this team to be as they start the ACC portion of their schedule. They will take on Georgia Tech next week after the bye. The Yellow Jackets lost to Syracuse a week ago and responded by thumping VMI. Still, they are 3-1 and will be looking for another upset victory

Louisville could move up in the polls with another win against the Yellow Jackets. That would set them up with a monster showdown against Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish are trying to keep their season alive after losing to Northern Illinois. It should be a great fight.

The Cardinals will pick up more respect with each game they win. They are in a great position to compete for the ACC Championship this season. They could be looking at a College Football Playoff berth for the first time ever.
