Predicting Louisville basketball's next 2 portal commits after De’Shayne Montgomery

Louisville basketball landed its fifth commitment this offseason from the Transfer Portal as De’Shayne Montgomery made it official and committed to the Cardinals. The Dayton transfer recently visited Louisville, and the Cardinals landed a Crystal Ball prediction shortly after, and now he joins Pat Kelsey’s stacked portal class.

Louisville’s offseason has gone about as well as anyone could have hoped or dreamed. They have landed four 4-star transfer commitments, along with 5-star transfer Flory Bidunga. Louisville’s roster is slowly beginning to fill up as they appear to have their starting lineup set, and now they are beginning to fill in its bench and the depth.

So, with Montgomery committing to Louisville, the fans are quickly wondering, who is next? Well, we are going to try to predict just that. Here are our predictions of Louisville basketball's next two Transfer Portal commits after De’Shayne Montgomery.

Mohammad Habhab

Someone Louisville is targeting and is making a push for is the Eastern Michigan transfer, Mohammad Habhab. Louisville needs depth in its frontcourt, and while Habhab isn’t a flashy or 4-star transfer, with Louisville being one of the few programs targeting him at the moment, the Cardinals might have a good chance of landing their backup forward.

Habhab is coming off a MAC All-Freshman Team season where he earned 10 double-doubles and averaged 14.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.4 blocks, and 0.9 steals per game. The Cardinals played the Eagles this past season, and the 6-foot-9, 205-pound forward posted a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds, adding four steals. The Cardinals reportedly visited Habhab recently, and if Kelsey wants him, it wouldn’t be shocking if he is a Cardinal next season.

James Scott

This is a BOLD prediction, but one that just makes sense. James Scott recently entered the portal after his lone season with Ole Miss, where he averaged a career low of 3.9 points per game. Scott played his first two seasons with Kelsey, as he played at Charleston his freshman season and followed Kelsey to Louisville for his sophomore year.

He was a big piece for Louisville and the “ReviVILLE” as he started in 27 games and averaged career highs 7.1 points and 6.1 rebounds per game, while shooting 75.5 percent from the field. He etched his name into Louisville history books as his 79 dunks in the 2024-25 season mark as the 3rd most dunks in one season. He is now back in the portal, and the Cardinals fans are making it clear they would love to have Scott back and be Flory Bidunga’s backup.

Given Kelsey and Scott's history, it is hard to cross it off just yet. So, we are going to make the bold prediction.
