Louisville basketball just got a huge update from Adrian Wooley, as the Cardinals announced that the former 5-star commitment will avoid the Transfer Portal and return to Louisville. This is a huge update for Louisville, as Wooley was not only a key piece last season for the Cardinals, but is also expected to be one of Pat Kelsey’s top scorers this upcoming season.
Adrian Wooley finally gives Louisville and Pat Kelsey the news they were hoping for
Wooley is a crafty guard who can create shots for himself and others, while also shooting from beyond the arc and attacking the rim. He is an elite scorer who scored 619 points in his true freshman season. Now, Kelsey and the Cardinals have their starting shooting guard, but they still have some work to do with their frontcourt and their bench.
But Wooley's return is huge news, and we are going to try to predict what Kelsey and the Cardinals will do next. So, here is a prediction for Pat Kelsey's next three moves after Adrian Wooley returns to Louisville.
Quel’Ron House - PG
The Cardinals need a backup guard, and someone already linked to the Cardinals is Louisville native Quel’Ron House. Now, not a lot of noise has been made with House, but this past season with Southern Illinois, the transfer showed he can be a dominant scorer, and he will now try to make a jump and play for a bigger program.
Louisville is still in contact with some big names, which means, at some point, Kelsey will have to go get some players who won’t be asking for much money. House emerges as someone who would fit this role as a backup guard, and with him growing up in Louisville and playing at Seneca High School, it would make sense for Kelsey to try and get the hometown native.
House was a Mr. Basketball finalist after averaging 27.9 points per game and shooting 50.5 percent from the field and 43.6 percent from beyond the arc. He now enters the portal a second time after his best collegiate season, where he averaged 15.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.7 steals per game while shooting 46.6 percent from the field.
Yaak Yaak - C
The Cardinals recently reached out to Oregon State transfer Yaak Yaak. The 6-foot-11, 230-pound center started his career at New Mexico State, then went to JUCO, where he played for Colorado Mesa, and is now back in the portal. The Cards are one of nine teams in contact with the center as Louisville is battling Indiana, USC, Memphis, and others.
The 6-foot-11 center was a dominant rim protector at the JUCO level, blocking 50 shots in just 27 games. He averaged 10.6 points and 6.2 rebounds per game, while shooting 48.3 percent from the field. Before college, he moved to Australia and played at the Australian Institute of Sport, which is the same place where Reyne Smith played. So, Louisville needs a rim protector off its bench, and there are some small ties to him.
If Louisville decides they want the Oregon State transfer, it wouldn't be shocking if he ends up a Cardinal.
Alvaro Folgueiras - PF
The player the Cardinals have been trending toward for a few days now is Iowa transfer Alvaro Folgueiras. The 4-star transfer is back in the portal for the second straight year as he played two seasons with Robert Morris, last season with Iowa, and hopefully next season with Louisville.
Many fans have been waiting for the good news surrounding Folgueiras, as On3 Sports has had Louisville as the dominant favorite for the 4-star transfer for a couple of days now. The 4-star transfer is a stretch-four who can shoot from beyond the arc as well as play some physical basketball at 6-foot-20, 230 pounds.
He was a key piece for Iowa in its Elite 8 run, scoring 14 points in the first and second rounds and 16 in the Sweet Sixteen. Kelsey needs a stretch four who can free up Bidunga, and the 4-star transfer emerges as a top target. He splashed 45 3-pointers while shooting 41.3 percent from downtown and now ranks as high as No. 62 overall and No. 14 among power forwards.
