Leaving: Deuce Adams, QB

Freshman quarterback Deuce Adams was never supposed to have held the starting position this season. He was supposed to be the backup for Miller Moss, who, in turn, was expected to excel and succeed at a high level in Jeff Brohm’s offense. However, as Moss’s performances became increasingly disappointing, fans hoped to see the freshman in game action to see what he could bring to the table. This opportunity did not arise until Miller Moss was injured, forcing Adams into the starting role on the road against the SMU Mustangs. The game was an embarrassment. SMU blew out the Cardinals 38-6, and Adams showed nowhere near the capabilities needed to be a starting quarterback at Louisville.

Many fans speculated after the SMU performance that the reins of the offense would be handed to Deuce Adams for next season. However, the writing appeared to be on the wall quickly after Louisville’s last game; transfer portal additions began contacting Louisville to fill the quarterback position. These expected additions ranged from DJ Lagway, former quarterback of the Florida Gators, and Dylan Raiola, former quarterback of the Nebraska Cornhuskers. It puts Adams in a challenging position when deciding his future, especially if he wants to see time on the field next season.
