Pat Kelsey has positioned Louisville well to attract multiple 5-star recruits, including several top-10 prospects. This week is a huge recruiting week for Kelsey and his recruiting efforts, as the Cardinals are learning whether they will land two 5-stars later this week.

Louisville just got a huge 5-star DeMarcus Henry update as commitment date announced

On Friday, Oct. 30, No. 2 overall recruit DeMarcus Henry will announce his decision between Louisville, North Carolina, Arkansas, and Kentucky, and tomorrow Louisville will learn whether they land their first 5-star, as Reese Alston is scheduled to announce his decision. Alston has been at the top of the Cardinals' list all offseason, and now they are just hours away from learning if their hard work will pay off.

Unfortunately, just a day before the decision, the Cardinals got a crushing update from Rivals as they updated their prediction, and Louisville fans won’t like it.

LSU is the dominant favorite for 5-star PG Reese Alston

All offseason, the Cardinals have been labeled the favorite. Fox Sports' Aaron Torres called them the team to beat, and On3 Sports' Jamie Shaw kept predicting Louisville to land the 5-star.

“I think Louisville is going to get this guy eventually; I really do,” stated Torres. “Pat Kelsey opened the recruiting period visiting five-star guard Reese Alston - just like they opened the summer seeing him."

However, it appears the Cardinals are no longer landing these types of predictions hours before the decision, as Rivals just updated their prediction meter, and the LSU Tigers are the dominant favorite. Will Wade and his Tigers have a dominant 90.7 percent chance of landing Alston, and the Cardinals now just have a 1.1 percent chance.

The Cardinals' biggest threat for Alston has been the Tigers since the summer, but since the 5-star visited LSU in September, the Tigers appear to be the clear frontrunner.

If the Tigers land Alston, it would be their second 5-star point guard, after landing King Gibson earlier this year. Gibson narrowed his list to four schools and ultimately committed to LSU over Louisville, Arkansas, and Providence.

Alston would be a crushing miss for the Cards, as they visited him multiple times this summer and have pushed hard for him all year. He ranks as high as No. 9 overall and No. 3 among point guards, and Kelsey would get a massive return.

However, Louisville fans may need to brace for impact tomorrow, as the LSU Tigers are now the dominant favorite in this 5-star race.
