Fox Sports insider makes bold prediction on Louisville and 5-star PG Reese Alston

Louisville basketball has been making a strong push for multiple 5-star prospects in the 2027 recruiting class, as Pat Kelsey has put the program in a prime position. The Cardinals have landed multiple official visits and are listed as being included in updated recruiting lists, including 5-star CJ Rosser, the nation’s No. 1 overall recruit.

The Cardinals have made it clear that Alston is a top priority for them in this upcoming recruiting class, and Kelsey just proved that by traveling to Alston after the 5-star took his official visit to LSU.

Now, after Kelsey visited Alston, Fox Sports college basketball insider Aaron Torres spoke about Louisville and their chances with Alston, and he said exactly what the Cardinals fans wanted to hear.

The recruiting battle for Alston is amping up right now. The 5-star point guard cut his list to just seven schools, where Louisville is now battling Kentucky, Tennessee, Houston, Vanderbilt, LSU, and Wichita State. Over the summer, it was a battle between LSU, Louisville, and Wichita State, but Kentucky and Tennessee joined the party late, and now it appears Alston might visit all finalists before deciding.

Well, after his visit to LSU, On3 Sports' Jamie Shaw lowered his confidence that Louisville would land the elite guard, but Torres is giving Louisville fans some positive news after Kelsey visited Alston and called the Cardinals the team to beat in this race.

“I think Louisville is going to get this guy eventually; I really do,” stated Torres. “Pat Kelsey opened the recruiting period visiting five-star guard Reese Alston - just like they opened the summer seeing him."

Louisville has already hosted Alston for an official visit, and as Torres stated in his video, Kelsey made it clear he is his top target. Kelsey traveled all summer to visit Alston and watch the 5-star point guard in action. Now, Kelsey is continuing to build that relationship with Alston by visiting him shortly after Alston’s visit to LSU.

Torres predicting Louisville will land Alston is music to Cardinals fans' ears, but this one isn’t over yet. Kelsey can’t take his foot off the brakes and has to keep impressing Alston until he officially commits. The 5-star point guard ranks as high as No. 7 overall and No. 2 among point guards.
