Louisville basketball's matchup for the 2025 ACC/SEC Challenge has reportedly been announced, with the Cardinals traveling to Fayetteville to take on head coach John Calipari and the Arkansas Razorbacks. This is going to be a thrilling matchup for college basketball, as both programs are expected to have a roster capable of competing for a National Championship.
The news broke on Wednesday afternoon, according to Jon Rothstein. He reported that the news and times have yet to be announced, but all matchups were announced, including this high-flying matchup between two of the best teams in the nation.
This matchup has the potential to be a top 10 showdown, as both programs have been featured in multiple way-too-early top 10 rankings, and both teams will have various 5 stars5-star recruits and future NBA stars.

The glaring truth behind Louisville basketball's blockbuster showdown with Arkansas
This time last season, when Louisville was building its schedules and trying to find teams to play, the Cardinals were coming off three awful seasons. Louisville won more games last season than in the three previous years combined, and the Cards' out-of-conference schedule is beginning to prove that this program is back and better than ever.
Louisville's matchup with Arkansas in the ACC/SEC Challenge is notable because Louisville is entering a new era. The Cardinals were not relevant for a few years and were not attracting star players or drawing national media attention.
However, Kelsey arrives, and things are much different. Louisville's TV schedule isn't out yet, but the Cardinals have games against Kansas in a preseason game, as well as matchups against Kentucky, Memphis, Cincinnati, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Indiana. Louisville is targeting elite programs and teams that will challenge this program.

The point guards will star in this massive showdown, as Arkansas landed the No. 1 point guard in the 2025 class in Darius Acuff Jr., while the No. 2 point guard from the 2025 cycle, Mikel Brown Jr., will lead Louisville.
Joining Acuff for the Razorbacks are 5-star combo guard Meleek Thomas and 4-star 6-foot-7 combo guard Isaiah Sealy. The Cardinals and Razorbacks are set to put on an absolute show with their elite guards, as Louisville will also feature two 5-star recruits in Brown and Adrian Wooley and boasts multiple 4-star players in Isaac McKneely and Ryan Conwell.
It will be a battle of the guards, but Louisville will have the experience and key vets to have a slight edge. This was a perfect draw for Louisville, as the fans will love the opportunity to try and earn another win against Coach Cal.
This game will be a must-watch for NBA fans, NBA scouts, college basketball fans, and sports fans in general. This will showcase some of the best guard play in all of college basketball and will be a must-watch TV between two programs that have what it takes to win the 2026 National Title.
