Louisville basketball is in the running for one of the top recruits in the nation. Colben Landrew is a name many Cardinals fans have become familiar with as Pat Kelsey has made it clear he wants Landrew to be a Cardinal in these last couple of months.

The Cardinals recently struck out on Taylen Kinney, the 2026 class's No. 1 point guard, making today a bit more pressure-filled. The Cardinals have yet to earn a commitment in the 2026 class, and today they have one of their best chances yet.

Louisville's top target will announce his decision this afternoon

The Cardinals have made multiple visits since in-house visits were made available. Louisville has appeared at numerous games of his over the summer and has now made it clear that Landrew is their top target after striking out on Kinney.

The Cards desperately need to land Landrew if they want a shot at Tyran Stokes and others. Louisville fans will be glued this afternoon as Landrew will announce his decision on Wednesday, Oct. 15, on theĀ CBS Sports College Basketball channel at 2:30 p.m. local time.

Landrew is one of the biggest rising stars in the 2026 class, as he was ranked as a top 80 prospect entering the summer. However, after an explosive summer, he skyrocketed to being ranked No. 17 in the nation and the No. 3 shooting guard. He is also ranked as a small forward by 247Sports, and they rank him No. 21 in the country, 9th among small forwards in the class.

Louisville will be going up against UConn, Purdue, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M. Landrew expressed he "loved" Louisville on his visit, and it went "amazing."

The Cardinals are now just hours away from hearing his decision. A commitment from Landrew and this program takes a massive step in the right direction. However, if they miss on the 4-star recruit, then Louisville fans will begin to worry about this 2026 class.
