Shough and Jackson just squared off in a battle this past Sunday, where the former Cardinal led the Saints in a huge fourth quarter. The Saints trailed 17-9 with under 10 minutes remaining, but Shough led New Orleans on a touchdown drive and finished with a two-point conversion to tie the game. Then Shough led the Saints on a 16-play drive for 68 yards and the game-winning touchdown.
Now, Shough ranks first in multiple categories after two weeks, grabbing everyone’s attention as New Orleans is 1-1.

This time last year, Shough was QB2 for Kellen Moore. He was a rookie at the time, drafted No. 40 overall in the second round, but lost the starting role to Spencer Rattler. However, after a slow start from Rattler, Moore took over midway through the season, and things quickly changed for the Saints.
Shough was a Rookie of the Year finalist after finishing the season with 2,384 passing yards, 10 passing touchdowns, three rushing touchdowns, and a 67.6 percent completion rate. Now, in 2026, Shough is emerging as a true star in the league, as the former Cardinal leads the league in passing yards. In addition to passing yards this year, he is leading the league in passer rating, yards per attempt, total touchdowns, and game-winning drives over his last seven games, dating back to last year.

This year, he has 662 passing yards and four passing touchdowns, while completing 68.9 percent of his passes. He also has 31 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. Shough had an eye-popping first game in 2026, throwing the ball 56 times for 410 yards and three touchdowns.
He then followed that with a win over Baltimore, throwing and rushing for a touchdown, including the game-winning one-yard rush with 1:28 remaining. There is a lot for Louisville and Saints fans to be excited about regarding Shough. The former Cardinal is emerging as a real star at the next level, and the Cardinals fans are loving it.
