Louisville football is coming off a massive win over SMU this past weekend. The Cardinals are now 2-1 this year, including 1-0 in conference play, and now rank No. 16 in the latest AP Poll. On top of that, the Cardinals are hearing legit College Football Playoff buzz, as Joel Klatt, David Pollack, and many others are cementing the Cardinals as legit CFP contenders.

Now, Louisville has to quiet the outside noise and focus on getting a win this week. Louisville is taking on a Wake Forest team that just played Miami and played the Hurricanes much closer than many might have thought. Wake Forest lost 33-20 after quarterback Gio Lopez led a second-half comeback to cut the deficit to 11 in the fourth quarter.
Now, as Louisville prepares to face Lopez and Wake Forest, Cardinals fans quickly noticed the star quarterback was on the initial injury report Wednesday evening.

Lopez was listed as questionable in the first ACC report, which would be a huge loss for Wake Forest if their starting quarterback didn’t play on the road against this highly explosive Louisville offense.

The Demon Deacons quarterback suffered a hip injury in Week 2 against Purdue, but played through it. Against Miami, he was listed as probable in the first injury report, and now, against Louisville, it appears the injury is coming back, as he is questionable heading into Thursday.
Lopez is playing big-time football through three games, ranking No. 15 in college football in passing yards with 887. He has thrown for 225 yards or more in every game, including 350 against Akron and 312 against Miami. He has also thrown for seven touchdowns, ranking No. 22 in the nation, including three against Akron and Miami.
In addition to passing, he can use his legs. He has rushed for 89 yards and two touchdowns in three games.
The Cardinals are currently 12.5-point favorites in this matchup on Saturday, but if Lopez isn't available, that would be a major loss for the Demon Deacons. This is one Louisville and Wake Forest fans will keep a close eye on, as he is the biggest name on the injury report for the Cardinals opponent.
