We start this list with a bang.

Jawon Pass was expected to be the guy long-term for the Louisville football program after coming in as a heralded high school all-american. We now know that-that is no longer the case after a disaster of a season in 2018-19.

Pass did have some quality games and did prove that he is capable of making plays when given time in the pocket, strong protection from the running back, and receivers who can get open. However, it was rare that all of those things happened in one game.

When you look at Puma Pass, his best game this past was no doubt the Florida State game where he put together close to a complete game, until his last minute interception that really should be blamed more on Bobby than Pass.

More from Louisville Football

Pass struggled in 2018 with confidence issues which showed in just about every game, as he struggled to pull the trigger and make the right throw at the right time. Once again, a lot of that should be blamed on Bobby Petrino, as Pass was yanked from 7 games that I can remember off the top of my head, and there was probably more than that. Some of that can also be blamed on Mike Summers and the play of the offensive line, as they allowed Pass to be sacked a whopping 30 times in 11 games.

There’s no telling at this point who will be the guy at the Quarterback position under Scott Satterfield, but I would be willing to bet a lot that’s it won’t be Jawon Pass.

While Pass still is raw and could be a completely different player with the right coaching (looking at you Dick Petrino) there is still a lot to question about Pass. Playing behind Lamar Jackson, Pass was on campus for two years before taking over as “the man” for Louisville and still looked like he had no idea what was happening the majority of the time. Should the majority of his struggles be blamed on the old staff? Yes, of course. But Puma Pass’ lack of urgency and lack of comfortability in a pocket should raise red flags for any new coaching staff.

We still have no idea if Jawon Pass will return to campus for his redshirt junior season, but if he does he will be in the mix along with Malik Cunningham and Evan Conley (both guys we’ll see on this list) for the starting QB position in 2019.
