Louisville football is coming off a dominant win over Florida State, improving Jeff Brohm and the Cardinals to 3-3 on the year and 2-2 in the ACC. Now, UofL will look to build on that win and try to secure its second straight win as it faces Syracuse on the road this Saturday.
Louisville football vs Syracuse early odds and a prediction
The Cardinals are 0-2 on the road, losing to NC State a couple of weeks ago and to Ole Miss in Week 1 on a neutral field. Now, Lincoln Kienholz and this explosive offense will try to flip the script and earn their first road win of the season, as Louisville is a two-touchdown favorite over the Orange.
While this isn’t a huge ACC showdown, the Orange is 0-3 in conference play, so every game from here on out is a must-win for Brohm if he wants even a shot at the ACC Championship Game. With Louisville and Syracuse facing off in a few days on Saturday, let’s make three bold predictions.
3. Clev Lubin dominates Week 7
Clev Lubin has been an absolute monster this season, securing four sacks, two forced fumbles, and 26 tackles. The star defensive lineman leads college football with 12 quarterback pressures, and we expect him to carry that into Week 7 against Syracuse.
The Orange rank 81st in the league, giving up 2.0 sacks per game, including giving up three against Cal and two against Pitt. We predict Lubin will cause havoc this weekend, secure two sacks, and bring dominant pressure to Louisville's defense.
Prediction: Clev Lubin 2+ sacks
2. Isaac Brown continues to dominate
The Cardinals are coming off a dominant 44-20 win, largely thanks to their preseason All-American, Isaac Brown. The star running back has now rushed for 125+ yards in consecutive games, marking the second time in his career. He is coming off a game in which he broke free for the longest play in program history, a 97-yard touchdown, and tallied a dominant 313 all-purpose yards, including a 71-yard kickoff return.
Now, we are making a bold prediction that Brown finds the end zone at least once again against Syracuse while adding another crazy stat line with 150+ yards on the ground. The 5-foot-9 running back is lightning quick and makes explosive plays nearly weekly, and over the past couple of weeks, Brohm and this offense have really begun to run through him.
Prediction: 17 carries, 155 yards 2 TD’s
1. Louisville puts up 40+ points
Louisville has scored 40 or more points in four of its six games, and we predict it will do so again on Saturday. This offense is extremely hard to slow down, and when Isaac Brown gets going, as he has in the past couple of weeks, it opens up the entire offense for Lincoln Kienholz.
Louisville has started somewhat slowly in some of these conference games, and while we may see that happen again on Saturday, we predict another explosive second half. Brown mentioned earlier this week that the Cardinals' win over Florida State provided a much-needed spark in the locker room, and we expect that offense to carry over, exploit Syracuse's defense, and lead UofL to its fourth win of the season.
Prediction: Lousiville 41, Syracuse 27
