Louisville football just had a big-time win over Florida State this past Friday, and it came at the perfect time. The Cardinals were on a two-game losing streak after UofL fell to North Carolina State and Wake Forest in consecutive weeks, and with Louisville eyeing a return to Charlotte, they desperately needed a win.

Louisville football vs Syracuse early odds and a prediction

Behind star running back Isaac Brown, Louisville secured a 44-20 win over Florida State, improving the Cards to 3-3 on the season and 2-2 in conference play. The Cardinals' two gut-wrenching losses had fans and the locker room down, but Brown revealed how crucial Friday’s win was for not only the fans, but the players and the locker room.

Louisville’s locker room got a much-needed spark

Louisville entered the season with lofty expectations in 2026, as the Cardinals brought back key players on offense and defense and added some notable transfers like Lincoln Kienholz and Koen Entringer.

However, the locker room saw early highs and lows, as Louisville upset SMU in Week 3 and ranked No. 16 in the nation, but quickly fell after losing the next two games to Wake Forest and NC State. Now, Louisville is looking to flip the script and build on its dominant win over Florida State, as Brown said it was a major spark in the locker room.

“It gave the team a spark, for real,” stated Brown on a local show. “Some were in the locker room down, we lost to NC State,  I feel like it is just one week at a time, and just win.”

The season is a long process, and teams will experience highs and lows. The unfortunate part is that Louisville will most likely have to go perfect and win out to have any chance of making the ACC Championship Game, but the fortunate part is that their schedule is very favorable.

The Cardinals play Syracuse this week, and Stanford after their bye on Halloween, which should certainly be two favorable wins for UofL, with Syracuse 0-3 in conference play, and Stanford trending as one of the worst teams in the ACC, after losing by 50-plus in consecutive weeks, and by 30-plus to Miami and Duke earlier this year.

So now, hopefully, as Brown said, this FSU win was a major spark in the locker room and has everyone bought into Brohm and this season. Louisville can build on this huge win, carry it into the next weeks, and really gain confidence, and they should be 5-3 as they head to Georgia Tech on November 7.

There is still plenty of football to play, and the Cardinals' ACC Title dreams aren’t dead yet, as we've seen chaos can happen in this conference. Louisville has to listen to Brown’s message, take it week by week, and go 1-0 that week.
