The first bye week comes early once again for the Louisville Cardinals in Week 3. Louisville football is off to a quick start in the 2025 season after going 2-0 in the first two weeks against Eastern Kentucky and James Madison. Both games were won by two touchdowns or more, even if the play on the field did not quite represent the dominant nature.
Louisville won the first game against EKU with ease, with the second-string players getting a chance to perform all of the second half of the game. The second game against James Madison is another story. Louisville won last Friday night at L&N Stadium 28-14. However, most Cards fans did not walk away from the game with warm fuzzy feelings for the rest of the season.
JMU was able to expose some glaring issues with the Cards that will need to be addressed immediately. This week comes at a perfect time for the Cardinals to take a moment to assess these items and move forward accordingly. The meat of Louisville’s schedule is on the horizon, so Jeff Brohm and company regroup and work to re-correct some of the errors that were on display in last week’s game.

3. Miller Moss's confidence and consistency
The new transfer quarterback started and played his first complete game as a Cardinal against JMU last week. This highly anticipated performance was met with mixed reviews from Cards fans as the dust of the competition settled. Sure, there were glances of what Moss could be for the Cards, including a 64-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Chris Bell in stride. Moss also showed that he can be mobile and is not afraid to run to make a play and get the needed yardage for the offense.
However, Moss looked uncomfortable and unsure, leading the offense most of the night. JMU did not make matters easy as they continually brought pressure most of the night. Moss constantly took longer than expected to make his reads of the defense and looked unsure at times with his decision-making on where the ball should go. His awareness was also an issue, most notably when he fumbled the football during a sack at a critical moment in the game in the first half. These worries displayed on the field will need to be cleaned up if Louisville wants a chance to play for the ACC title at season’s end.
