Louisville basketball has had a dominant offseason so far as the Cardinals have landed four commitments, including 5-star transfer and No. 1 overall transfer, Flory Bidunga. The Cardinals Transfer Portal class ranks as high as No. 1 in the nation, with Pat Kelsey steering this program toward another Final Four contender.

While Kelsey’s offseason is ranked No. 1 in the nation, Louisville has lost a handful of players. Cardinals fans circled a few names they would like back for next season, and while Kelsey was able to keep Adrian Wooley, a couple ended up leaving.
The Transfer Portal closed on April 21, and the Cardinals learned they lost Sananda Fru, Khani Rooths, Vangelis Zougris, Kasean Pryor, and Mouhamed Camara. Of those five players, three have already found new homes, and we are going to give a brief breakdown of where they went.
Vangelis Zougris - Saint Mary's
Louisville lost a couple of centers this offseason to the Transfer Portal, including Vangelis Zougris. The former Cardinal found his new home with the Saint Mary’s Gaels and Mickey McConnell. Zougris was a key piece for Kelsey towards the end of the season, as he started in the final six games and averaged 4.8 points and 2.7 rebounds while shooting 63.6 percent from the field.
The former Cardinal committed to Louisville last offseason after he played in Greece. The center averaged a double-double with 14.4 points and 11.1 rebounds at the 2023 FIBA U20 European Championship and 11.6 points and 8.3 rebounds at the 2024 FIBA U20 EuroBasket.

Sananda Fru - Marquette
The other center who entered the Transfer Portal from Louisville was the former 4-star commit, Sananda Fru. The power forward/center committed to Louisville from Germany, then entered the Transfer Portal after one season, and is now heading to the Big East and Marquette.
Fru had high expectations from the Louisville fans, committing as a 4-star, but he lacked physicality and toughness at times, forcing Kelsey to bring him off the bench to start the games. In his lone season with Louisville, he averaged 9.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, and 1.2 assists per game while shooting an impressive 75 percent from the field. The former Louisville 4-star committed to Marquette, ranked as a 4-star transfer, No. 39 overall, and No. 8 among power forwards.

Khani Rooths - Oklahoma
The biggest sting this offseason was when former Louisville fan favorite Khani Rooths entered the portal. Entering this offseason,Cardinals fans circled Rooths and Wooley as the ones they wanted back, and while going 50 percent isn’t bad, Louisville fans were still sad to see the former 4-star leave.
Rooths, committed to Louisville, ranked as a 4-star 2024 recruit, No. 34 overall and No. 6 among power forwards. He spent his first two seasons with Louisville and was a spark off the bench in both. However, he struggled to find a consistent shot, averaging 5.3 points and 4.3 rebounds while shooting 45 percent from the field and 22.4 percent from 3-point range. He entered the Transfer Portal and ultimately committed to the SEC and Oklahoma after being ranked as a 4-star transfer, No. 117 overall, and No. 28 among power forwards.
