Louisville football 2016 Heisman trophy winner, Lamar Jackson, was up for the Most Valuable Player award for the 2024-2025 season, but fell just short.
Jackson was seeking history, as if he won this years MVP trophy he would have been just the seventh player in NFL history to win three MVP's in their NFL career. Other former Louisville quarterback, Johnny Unitas, is part of that prestigious group.
Josh Allen ended up taking home the MVP trophy, as the former Wyoming quarterback threw for 3,731 yards and threw 28 touchdowns on just six interceptions. He added 531 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns, and took his Bill to the AFC Championship game. While Allen's stats and season are impressive, Lamar Jackson historic season seemed to be overlooked.

Passing statistics
Lamar Jackson finished sixth in the NFL for total passing yards with 4,172 passing yards. He averaged 245.5 passing yards per game, and had 41 passing touchdowns in the regular season, which ranks second among the league. He finished with 45 total passing touchdowns, including the playoffs, and finished with just four interceptions.
Jackson's 4,000 passing yards, 40 passing touchdowns and four interceptions is the first time those numbers have been accomplished in NFL history. Lamar Jackson finished first in passing rating at 119.6 and tied for first in QBR with an average of 77.5 per game.
Jackson's historic rushing season
Former Louisville quarterback historic season wasn't just accomplished through the air, as his legs broke the history books as well. Jackson finished the year with 915 rushing yards on just 139 carries, which averages out to be 6.6 rushing yards per carry. He also added four rushing touchdowns on the season.
Jackson once again etched his name in the NFL history books, as he is now the first player in NFL history to throw for over 4, 000 yards and to rush for over 900 yards in the same season. Lamar Jackson would then move on to be the NFL leading rusher for quarterbacks in NFL history, breaking Michael Vick's rushing yards record. Lamar Jackson has a career 6, 173 rushing yards in his seven year career.
Raven's successful season statistics
Lamar Jackson led this Baltimore Ravens offense to a historic season as they are the first team in legue history to throw for 4,000 yards or more, and also rush for 3,000 yards or more. Ravens rushing offense was led by new acquire, Derrick Henry, who rushed for 1,921 yards on the year, and behind him was Jackson's 915 yards. Ravens won their second consecutive AFC North crown, and made it to the AFC divisional round.
