Louisville football Spring game is set for April 11in L&N Stadium, head coach Jeff Brohm announced.
Brohm will be entering his third season as the Cardinals head coach, and will be seeking UofL third consecutive season of eight wins or more and his second straight season of at least nine wins. Cardinals wins total line was released by FanDuel yesterday at 8.5.
Louisville football has recently added depth to their offensive line as they have signed two guards, Michael Flores and Naeer Jackson. Cardinals biggest acquisition this offseason was transfer quarterback from USC, Miller Moss.
Moss had 2,555 passing yards, with 18 touchdowns and a QBR of 74.4 and was one of the nations best. Moss had a grading score of 90 and four-stars via 247Sports. The Cardinals offense will be one of the best in the country, as Moss, Isaac Brown and Caullin Lacy are going to be a three-headed monster for their opponents.
However, Louisville may have addressed their offensive line and quarterback holes, but their defenses holes are still showing. Louisville offseason was one of the best on offensive side, their defenses side however is still missing some crucial pieces.
Louisville football still missing crucial piece even after successful offseason
Louisville football has a major hole on their defensive side, and honestly it isn't even that close.
Quincy Riley, and Corey Thornton will move on and play in the NFL, Tahveon Nicholson is out of eligibility and Aaron Williams transferred to UCLA. Louisville lost all their starters on the outside, and four of their top five cornerbacks from 2024.
Quincey Riley led the way for UofL, as he had 21 tackles in the 2024 season and had two interceptions with one force fumble. The former Louisville cornerback led the Cardinals in pass deflections with nine, and will most likely get drafted in the top two rounds. Corey Thornton also had 38 total tackles last year, 27 of them were solo, two interceptions and six pass deflections in the 2024 season.
Louisville biggest cornerback signing this offseason was in Jabari Mack out of Jacksonville State from the transfer portal.
Cardinals also added Justin Agu out of Louisiana, and Rodney Johnson Jr. from Southern University. While all three transfer corners had decent production in their group of five collegiate career, the jump from group of five to the Power four and ACC will be a hard adjustment.
Mack had 20 solo tackles for Jacksonville State, and brought in two interceptions, and 11 pass deflections. UofL only brought back two redshirt freshman corners from last year in Rae'mon Mosby and Jathan Hatch. They also will have freshman, Antonio Harris making his collegiate debut.
Cardinals have to play Miami, Clemson, SMU and Kentucky this year, and three of those four schools offenses are expected to be one of best in nation. Louisville football needs to try and go after a corner with more experience, or just a couple more corners for depth at the very least if they want to try and make history and win the ACC for first time in program history.
Louisville football offense is going to put up points, and they are going to do it in dominant fashion. However, the hole in the secondary is big, and the clock is ticking for Jeff Brohm to address it.
