Super Bowl LIX is hours away from kickoff as the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs are chasing history for their two programs.

Kansas City Chiefs are led by superstar quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, and are chasing their third consecutive Super Bowl championship, which would be the first time in the league history for a three-peat. As for the Eagles, they are chasing their second Super Bowl victory in program history, as their lone Super Bowl win came back in 2018.

Mekhi Becton is also trying to etch his name in Louisville football history and become a Super Bowl champion and join an elite category. He would become the first Louisville football player to win a Super Bowl and take home a ring since Tutu Atwell and Javian Hawkins back in 2022. Louisville has only had 35 former players play in the Super Bowl, making him 36.

Becton is now on the Philadelphia Eagles where he is the starting right guard, and has become a key piece in one of the league’s best rushing attacks. Becton not only will be a key piece in this game, but he will also be one of the Eagles deciding factors if they want to win.

Mekhi Becton best season with Louisville came in 2017 when the Cardinals went 8-5. Becton is 6'7 360 lbs. and he was one of the best linemen in his draft class. He was the third overall linemen drafted after his 23 career starts with Louisville.

Becton has been blocking for Saquon Barkley and has helped Barkley have an historic season, and was an MVP finalist. Eagles are averaging 180 yards on the ground, and Becton has played a pivotal role in their run game, as he ranks in the top 20 in both run-blocking and overall pass-protection grade according to PFF.

Becton wlll be going head-to-head with George Karlaftis, who leads the Chiefs in sacks this postseason with three, and had eight during the regular season which also led the team. The Eagles will need to have good pass protrction to keep up with the Chiefs explosive offense, and Becton is at the center of attention for that.

The Eagles will rely heavily on the run game, and if they want to secure their second Super Bowl ring, Mekhi Becton has to have a game to remember. Becton must play like he has played all playoffs, and he must continue to pancake the defenders.

The Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs will go head-to-head in Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 9 at 6:30 p.m. local time.
