The Philadelphia Eagles absolutely dominated the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX Sunday night. Eagles were led byJalen Hurts in their 40-22 victory in Super Bowl LIX and secured just their second Super Bowl ring in franchise history.

Mekhi Becton etched his name in Louisville football history and became a Super Bowl champion and joined a prestigious category. He is the first Louisville football player to win a Super Bowl and take home a ring since Tutu Atwell and Javian Hawkins back in 2022.

Becton story all started in Louisville, where he was an absolute beast on the offensive line and helped lead UofL dominant in the run game at the time.

"Just how hard Bobby Petrino was, especially dealing with that in my Freshman and Sophomore year that definitely helped me out once I got to the NFL." Mekhi Becton stated in interview on media day.

However, Becton's journey wasn't straight forward and it took him many years to get to this point in his career, and his heartwarming story took over social media Sunday night.

Mekhi Becton heartwarming story

Louisville has only had 36 former players play in the Super Bowl, and after last nights win, Becton becomes just the 17th player from Louisville to win the Super Bowl.

Becton was caught on camera multiple times during the Eagles playoff run crying and showing emotion in head coach Nick Sirianni arms. Becton story helps show hard work pays off, and his drive and will to never quit is one of the best stories in all of the NFL.

Becton is 6-foot-7, 363 pounds and was the No. 11 overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft, where he was selected by the New York Jets. Becton had a great rookie season and was one of the top offensive linemen in all of NFL.

However, the next couple seasons he got hit with the injury bug and missed a lot of time with knee injuries. In 2021, he had a season-ending knee cap dislocation and MCL sprain in the first week on the season. It didn't get any better for the Cardinals star, as after missing an entire season, in 2022 he suffered an avulsion fracture of the knee cap in training camp, and was sidelined for that entire season too.

The New York Jets opted to not bring back Becton, and opted out of his fifth-year option on his rookie contract. Becton would play the following season in the last year of his contract, but had a career high 12 penalties that season. He later on signed with the Philadelphia Eagles on a one-year deal that would change his entire career.

Becton blocked for Saquon Barkley and helped Barkley have an historic season, and was an MVP finalist. Eagles averaged 180 yards on the ground, and Becton has played a pivotal role in their run game, as he ranks in the top 20 in both run-blocking and overall pass-protection grade according to PFF.

Becton had to overcome doubt, injuries and adversity, but trusted in himself and believed in his talent, and signed with the Eagles. He became an absolute force for their offensive line, and became a Super Bow champion.

Mekhi Becton is officially a Louisville football all-time great, and in legendary status. His ability to overcome two season-ending injuries, Jets giving up on him, and a 12 penalty season, shows his strength, and why he deserved this spotlight.
