Louisville basketball fans are counting down the days until fall, when the college basketball season begins, and a major reason is 5-star transfer Flory Bidunga. The Kansas transfer is a unanimous 5-star who is coming off a dominant season with the Jayhawks and is Louisville’s biggest addition this offseason.

Milan Momcilovic update: Louisville gaining serious momentum if 5-star returns

The Cardinals landed the 5-star over Duke, as the two ACC schools were heavily involved in his recruiting process. After Louisville landed Bidunga, the excitement grew for next season as Kelsey has now landed nine commitments this offseason. However, Louisville fans have become a bit more worried that the 5-star might stay in the 2026 NBA Draft.

Bidunga is committed to Louisville, but entered his name into the draft process, and with the deadline set for May 27, Cardinals fans are now more worried about him possibly staying in the draft after he spoke to the media.

Flory Bidunga gives concerning NBA Draft update

Bidunga is the No. 1 overall player in the portal and a huge piece of the Cardinals' roster for this upcoming season. While the fans knew he was going to the NBA Combine and the draft process, not many considered the possibility of him staying in the NBA Draft and not actually going to Louisville for this upcoming season.

Well, Louisville fans are thinking twice now.

“I feel like it is a day-to-day,” Bidunga stated in an interview with Noah Weber about staying in the NBA Draft or going to Louisville. “Obviously, I am here. It is an honor to be here, and I just want to hear from them. If I have a good seed, then the NBA is my dream, so I will probably be staying for sure.”

Bidunga is a dominant rim protector, averaging 2.6 blocks per game and recording 91 total blocks this past season. He secured 13 double-doubles this past year as well, and earned All-Big 12 First-Team, as well as Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, and Cardinals fans thought it was a near lock he was coming back.

However, after hearing this interview, Louisville fans raise an eyebrow and grow a bit more concerned. Now, Bidunga likely wasn’t going to announce at the NBA Combine that he would go to Louisville and withdraw his name from the NBA Draft, but his answer isn’t the most promising response for the Cardinals fans.

May 27 has quickly become a massive date for all Cardinals fans to know. Louisville hopes to hear Bidunga withdraw his name and transfer to the Cards, and also hopes to hear Iowa State transfer Milan Momcilovic return to college basketball, as the Cards are gaining serious ground for power forward.
