Louisville basketball’s 2026-27 roster is looking like a true Final Four contender. Pat Kelsey has dominated the offseason by landing nine commitments, including six from the Transfer Portal. The Cardinals are now looking to fill out their roster, and one player the fans are keeping a close eye on is the Iowa State transfer Milan Momcilovic.
Milan Momcilovic Update: Louisville in a 3-team battle if 5-star PF returns to college
The sharpshooter is currently at the NBA Combine, and he made it clear his No. 1 priority is the NBA and getting drafted, but if he does return, it certainly sounds like Louisville is a real threat to land the 5-star transfer. Momcilovic entered the Transfer Portal while also testing the NBA Draft, and with the deadline May 27, when he has to decide draft or portal, the Cardinals are gaining some serious momentum if the stud power forward returns.

When looking at Momcilovic and the college teams, it seems his fans are watching Kentucky, Louisville, and St. John’s. Kentucky held a Zoom call with the 5-star transfer, and Louisville is emerging as a team fans are beginning to realize could be a major threat to Momcilovic if he does return.
“I hear that Louisville is a serious threat to get him (Momcilovic) out of that group,” stated Kyle Tucker about who could land Momcilovic. “And Louisville does have a blank check”.

Louisville has already landed the No. 1 transfer in the portal, Flory Bidunga, and now, if the Cardinals find a way to land Momcilovic over Kentucky, it would make this potential splash that much better. On top of beating Kentucky for this elite recruit, if Louisville lands him, it would put the Cardinals in the mix as one of the top teams in the country and certainly in the mix to be ranked in the top five.
It is clear at this moment that Momcilovic is the Cardinals' No. 1 target, and it is now being reported that Louisville is gaining serious momentum for the 5-star transfer, and they are a real threat to land Momcilovic. The 5-star transfer is a sharpshooter from beyond the arc at 6-foot-8 as he splashed the most 3’s this past season at 136 while also ranking No. 1 for highest 3-point percentage at 48.7 percent.
He is a dream target and a strong fit for Kelsey and Louisville, and if he decides to return and not declare for the NBA Draft by May 27, Tucker is making it crystal clear that Louisville is a strong contender in this 5-star race.
