Louisville basketball is having an eye-popping offseason right now. The Cardinals fans knew Pat Kelsey was going to rebuild and hit the Transfer Portal hard, but not many expected it to this level.
Jeff Goodman gives Louisville basketball fans a massive Milan Momcilovic update
Kelsey has landed nine commitments so far this offseason, including six from the portal and three from the 2026 recruiting class. Louisville’s biggest addition was their first commitment, Flory Bidunga, and when asked about Louisville, he made it clear this team has a chance to compete for a National Title, calling this group a “superteam”.
Flory Bidunga calls Pat Kelsey's squad a 'superteam'
Kelsey landed Bidunga and Jackson Shelstad in a two-for-one package after both visited Louisville at the same time. Shortly after those two committed, the dominoes just started falling Louisville’s way, including in the 2026 recruiting class. Louisville fans are excited for this upcoming season, and might be even more excited after Bidunga makes it clear this group has a chance to go far by calling this unit a “super team”.
“They’re putting together a superteam.” Bidunga stated, according to CBS Sports.
For Louisville to be the “superteam” Bidunga is referring to, the Cardinals will, of course, need the 5-star center to return to college basketball. Bidunga raised some eyebrows at the NBA Combine when he didn’t make it clear if he was returning to college basketball or staying in the NBA Draft.
However, many assume he will go to Louisville, and if he does, this Cardinals unit is looking like a true Final Four contender. On top of that, add that Louisville is in the mix and the “frontrunner” for 5-star Milan Momcilovic. If the Cards are able to get Momcilovic, then yes, this team has a case to be called a “superteam” as that would mean they would have the top two players in the Transfer Portal, along with 5-star Obinna Ekezie Jr., multiple 4-stars in Karter Knox, Alvaro Folgueiras, De’ Shayne Montgomery, and Boyuan Zhang.
The Cardinals are generating even more buzz this offseason than last, and last year they were ranked No. 11 in the nation heading into preseason and had the sixth-best odds. So, with Louisville fans hopeful that Bidunga returns, and if Kelsey has one last trick up his sleeve and lands Momcilovic, then this team is going to be special and emerge as one of the top favorites in college basketball.
