Louisville basketball defeated the Miami Hurricanes yesterday, marking the Cardinals' first Quad 1A win of the season and their first over a ranked team since 2020. The Cardinals' gritty win came in thrilling fashion as Miami took the lead back late in the second half, but Adrian Wooley stepped up big-time and found the bottom of the net after a game-winning step back 3-pointer with 18 seconds remaining.

Louisville basketball finally breaks six-year curse with massive win over Miami

Louisville’s huge win caught many media and fans' eyes, but it also caught the Cardinals' former favorite player, Chucky Hepburn's eyes. It is always cool to see former players show some love for their former team, and while Hepburn was only a Cardinal for one season, he is certainly a Cardinal for life.

The Cardinals snapped a 12-game losing streak to ranked teams on the road, and Hepburn’s post on social media shows just how big a win this is for Louisville.

Hepburn’s post should have Louisville fans fired up heading into the postseason, as this Cardinals team showed resilience and made some big-time plays from big-time players. Wooley was orchestrating the Cardinals' offense and showcasing how good he is as a 1-on-1 guard, while on defense, Ryan Conwell stepped up, forced a turnover, and then went 2-of-2 from the free-throw line, icing the game with six seconds remaining.

Hepburn knows a lot about postseason runs and big-time plays as the former Cardinal led Louisville to its first ACC Championship game last season, and in the Cards' quarterfinals showdown, he hit a buzzer-beater to put Louisville in the semifinals, where they went on to beat Clemson.

The Cardinals' season wasn’t how many had hoped as they sit 22-9 on the season and 1-8 in Quad 1A games, but everyone is 0-0 moving forward, and Louisville just played one of its best games of the season and earned one of its biggest wins of the season.

Louisville faces the winner of SMU and Syracuse on Wednesday, March 11, and then the winner of that matchup plays Miami on Thursday, March 12, in the quarterfinals.
