Former Louisville football legend Lamar Jackson is cooking through two weeks of football on the pro stage. Jackson is coming off a historic 2024 season and quite arguably one of the biggest MVP robberies in a long time.
Jackson lost the 2024 MVP race to the Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen, despite Jackson having a higher completion percentage, throwing more passing yards, more passing touchdowns, fewer interceptions, and rushing for more rushing yards. The two-time MVP was robbed of his third MVP award, and now will seek to become just the seventh player in NFL history to earn at least three MVP awards in their career.

Jackson and Allen are once again battling it out for that MVP award in 2025 through just two weeks of football, as these two quarterbacks have been dominating early on.
So far, Allen has the slight edge on Jackson in the MVP race as FanDuel gives the Wyoming alum +310 odds to win the MVP, and provides the Louisville alum +350 odds. After those two stars at the top, the next closest player is San Diego Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert and Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love, with +900 odds.
The stats are close through two weeks, but Jackson has thrown for passing yards, more touchdowns, has a higher completion percentage, and has a higher QBR and passer rating. Jackson, through his first two games, is 33-for-48, which is a 68.8 completion percentage while throwing six touchdowns and having a passer rating of 136.6. He hasn't thrown any interceptions and has also rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown.
As for Allen, he has thrown 47-for-71, which is a 66.2 completion percentage while throwing four touchdowns and having a passer rating of 98.4. He also hasn't thrown any interceptions, has rushed for 89 yards, and has two touchdowns.
Jackson leads the league in passing touchdowns, passer rating, and touchdowns. The stats are similar through two weeks of football, but Jackson is once again on pace to dominate in 2025 and have a strong case for another MVP.
Allen and the Bills were able to pull off a miracle comeback in Week 1 over Jackson's Ravens, which is probably why he has the slight edge as of now, but with the revenge in Jackson's mind after being robbed of that award in 2024, the former Louisville Cardinal picked up right where he left off last season, and is poised for another dominant MVP season.
