Louisville football is on top of the world right now, and the Cardinals are ranked for the first time in the 2025 season. The Cards are coming into Week 9 ranked No. 19 in the nation after their historic win over the Miami Hurricanes.
Jeff Brohm is the king of winning a top 5 matchup or a big-time game at least once a season as he boasts a 4-4 record against Top 5 teams, and has now defeated Notre Dame, Clemson, or Miami in three straight seasons.
However, the Cards fans have seen this script before. Louisville wins a big-time game, they gain hope again and are back in the ACC race, but then lose a game the very next game to a team they should have won. Brohm has a record the day after winning a big-time game to slip up, but this year he plans to change that record and to make sure they stay in this ACC and College Football Playoff race.

Jeff Brohm looks to rewrite history this weekend against Boston College.
The Cards fans know this script a little to well. Louisville was heavy underdogs, and still found a way to stun the No. 2 team in the nation. Now, the whole country is keeping an eye on Louisville this weekend as they go up against Boston College who should be an easy win as the Eagles sit 1-6.
Well, history says this is going to be a challenge for the Cardinals. In Brohm's first two years with Louisville he found ways to beat Notre Dame in 2023 and Clemson in 2024, despite being a double-digit underdog in both. The following week after both wins Louisville went on to teams with a below .500 record, and crushing all the momemntum they had.
In 2023 Brohm earned his first big-time win with Louisville when the Cards defeated the No. 10 team in the nation, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The week after the Cardinals went on the road to play at a 1-4 Pitt team and were 7.5 point favorites but laid an egg and lost 38-21.
The following year Louisville had a historic win over No. 11 Clemson, as the Cardinals dominated the Tigers from start to finish. It was Louisville's first win over Clemson in program history and this Cardinals team gave them hope for the ACC race again, however, like the year before they laid another massive egg, as they lost to a 2-7 Stanford team. Louisville was 20.5 point favorites in that game and that loss eliminated them from any hope of making it back to Charlotte.
Now, in 2025 the Cards are coming off another historic win as their win over Miami marked their first road win over a top 10 team in program history. Brohm will look to rewrite history this weekend though and not lay an egg against Boston College and to stay at the top of the ACC race.
Louisville has no room of error, and especially cant afford to lose to the Eagles who sit 1-6 on the year and have lost six straight. The Cardinals are a three touchdown favorite and this year instead of going on the road after their big win they will return to home.
Brohm's 2025 team is different than his previous as these stars on offense are defense are poised and bound to end this horrific streak. The Cardinals must end this streak to keep their ACC Title chances alive, and luckily for them and the fans they are going up against the worst team in the ACC.
