Jeff Brohm and Louisville football are looking to build momentum from their recent 3-star commitment, Dre'Mail Carothers. The 3-star quarterback is the top-rated quarterback from the state of Kentucky and is now the lone quarterback commitment in Brohm's 2027 class.
Louisville football's new No. 1 target is clear after Dre'Mail Carothers update
The Cardinals are trying to build a historic recruiting class in the 2027 cycle, as they rank just outside the 247Sports top 25 right now, and Louisville has earned only two recruiting classes inside that coveted top 25. So, right now, Brohm and Vince Marrow are trying to make history and rank inside the top 25 and maybe earn the program's highest-rated class, and a recent 4-star target would be a huge help to the Cardinals' goals.
Louisville has landed multiple 4-stars in the 2027 cycle, and specifically in the secondary. And now, Steve Wiltfong, a top recruiting expert for Rivals, reports that the Cardinals are making a strong push for 4-star cornerback Monsanna Torbert.
Louisville football battling Michigan and Ohio State for elite 4-star CB
Torbert is one of the top-rated cornerbacks in the 2027 recruiting class, and after he decommitted from the defending National Champions, the Indiana Hoosiers, Louisville has emerged as a recent contender for the 4-star.
The 4-star cornerback initially committed to Indiana back in early January this year, but he continued to earn offers from big-time programs, including Louisville, and decommitted from the Hoosiers last month in May. Now, he has received over 34 offers from major programs such as Notre Dame, Texas, Ohio State, Michigan, Oklahoma, and many other Power Four programs.
Since he decommitted from Indiana, it was a two-way battle between the two rivals, Ohio State and Michigan, but now Brohm has put Louisville right in the mix, quickly making this a three-team battle. The Cards made their offer ten days after Michigan did on March 10, and Ohio State extended its offer on April 6.
Both Michigan and Ohio State received official visits from the 4-star cornerback, as the Buckeyes earned an official visit on June 12 and Michigan earned an official visit on June 19. No program has earned a Crystal Ball prediction, but Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine has Ohio State as the dominant favorite with a 96.5 percent chance of earning his commitment.
Brohm and Louisville have already landed one of the top cornerbacks in the 2027 recruiting class, Allen Evans. The 4-star corner is a native of Louisville and ranks as high as No. 76 in the nation, No. 9 among cornerbacks, and No. 2 from Kentucky.
Now, it appears Brohm is trying to get a dominant duo at the cornerback position in this 2027 recruiting class. Torbert ranks as high as No. 70 in the 2027 cycle, No. 10 among cornerbacks, and No. 3 among recruits from Ohio.

Louisville has prioritized recruiting in Kentucky and Ohio, landing 5 recruits from Ohio, including 4-stars D'Angelo White and Chuck Alexander.
It won't be easy, but Brohm has quickly put Louisville in the mix with Torbert, and now the Cardinals are set to face some Big 10 powerhouses.
