Louisville football recently secured its 17th commitment in the 2027 recruiting class as Jeff Brohm and the Louisville Cardinals landed their No. 1 quarterback target, Dre'Mail Carothers. The Cardinals now have their first quarterback commitment in the 2027 recruiting class and have secured the top-rated QB in the state of Kentucky in the 2027 cycle.
Louisville lands state's top QB as Jeff Brohm wins major recruiting battle over UNC
Carothers earned offers from over 14 programs, including Louisville's ACC foe, the North Carolina Tar Heels. UNC received an official visit on May 29, the weekend before Louisville did. But Brohm was able to secure the 3-star commitment over Bill Belichick, and now Louisville has its star quarterback in the 2027 class.
Carothers ranks as high as No. 882 overall in the 2027 cycle, No. 37 among quarterbacks, and is No. 10 in the state of Kentucky. Louisville has now earned commitments from four of the top ten recruits from Kentucky.
With Louisville earning Carothers' commitment, the Cardinals will now look to build on this momentum and try to land another commitment sooner rather than later. And when thinking of top targets at the moment, there is one obvious No. 1 target, and that is the 4-star linebacker, Theo Wilson.
4-star LB emerges as top target for Louisville football
Louisville recently hosted 27 recruits on campus across two weekends, and among the remaining uncommitted recruits, Wilson is among the top-rated. The 4-star linebacker took an official visit to Louisville on June 5, and ever since, the Cardinals fans have had a close eye on him.
The 4-star linebacker ranks as high as No. 292 in the 2027 recruiting class, No. 20 among linebackers and No. 32 among recruits native to Florida. Wilson has received over 35 offers from powerhouse programs such as Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Florida State, and LSU.
Louisville appears to be in another ACC recruiting battle for the 4-star linebacker as Wilson took an official visit to Virginia on May 29, then to Louisville on June 5, then followed the Cards' visit with a visit to North Carolina this past weekend. 247Sports is reporting he is also visiting LSU this weekend.
247Sports has "warm" next to Louisville and Virginia's names, and everyone else still has "cool". There hasn't been an update on when the 4-star plans to announce his decision, but with this weekend concluding his visits, it could be this summer.
Wilson just had a dominant Junior campaign with Armwood High School, where he secured 96 total tackles, 34 tackles for a loss, 17 quarterback hurries, 13 sacks, three forced fumbles, two pass breakups, two fumble recoveries, and one interception.
