Louisville football is trending toward one of its best classes in program history, as the Cardinals have already landed four 4-star recruits and eight total commitments. Louisville recently took a slight hit after its 4-star quarterback commit, Jack Sorgi, decommitted from the Cardinals and opened up his recruiting again.
Louisville football's 2027 recruiting class hits first bump after 4-star decommits
It didn’t come as a huge surprise, as his father Jim went to Wisconsin, and the signs pointed to Louisville losing its 4-star commit to the Badgers. Well, Jeff Brohm and Vince Marrow worked quickly and found their Sorgi replacement, as they extended an offer to a Kentucky native, Dre'Mail Carothers, and just recently, 247Sports' Allen Trieu reported that the Cardinals will earn a visit this weekend from the local 3-star.

Purdue, Mississippi State and Oregon State on the books for unofficials after that. Still one OV set.

Local 3-star QB Dre'Mail Carothers set to visit Louisville Saturday
Brohm is known for finding underrated quarterback gems, and then their stock soars. Louisville’s true freshman was a 3-star commit, but then saw his rankings soar to a 4-star and ranked as high as No. 262 in 247 Sports rankings. Similarly, Sorgi committed to Louisville unranked, but then his ranking rose to 4-star, and he is now ranked No. 260 in the 2027 recruiting class.
So, now Louisville is trending with Carothers, who ranks as a 3-star recruit, and No. 580 in the 2027 cycle and No. 39 among quarterbacks. However, if history repeats itself and Brohm lands Carothers, the Cardinals fans could expect the 3-star QB rankings to soar after his senior season.
Louisville is in a recruiting battle with Purdue, Mississippi State, and Oregon State, as they also have unofficial visits scheduled. Louisville has the best chance of landing Carothers' commitment from On3 Sports, which gives Louisville a 25.8 percent chance. Behind Louisville is Kentucky, with a 22.6 percent chance
The 3-star Kentucky native attends Owensboro High School, where he threw an impressive 4,001 yards, 49 touchdowns, and only eight interceptions last season. He completed 67 percent of his passes and showed off his legs as well, rushing for 114 yards and one touchdown.
The Cardinals hope to leave a great impression on this hidden gem of Brohm’s and will hope they land their Sorgi replacement soon.
