Louisville football recently learned that 4-star quarterback Jack Sorgi decommitted from the program, as the Wisconsin Badgers appear to be the new frontrunner. Sorgi has been committed to the Cardinals since June 2025, but the Badgers have been recruiting him heavily to try to flip him from the Cards to Wisconsin.
Louisville football loses elite 4-star QB commit after recent visit to Wisconsin
Jack’s dad is a Wisconsin alum who played quarterback for the Badgers from 2000 to 2003 and went to play six seasons in the NFL as Peyton Manning’s backup quarterback with the Indianapolis Colts. Well, after the Badgers extended an offer and they earned an official visit, Sorgi decommitted from Louisville, and now Jeff Brohm and Vince Marrow will try to look elsewhere.
Well, it didn’t take long as Brohm and Marrow quickly extended an offer to their next 2027 quarterback prospect, Dre'mail Carothers.

It certainly stung to lose Sorgi, but the Cardinals are already trying to land their next star quarterback, as Carothers announced on his social media that he received an offer from the Louisville Cardinals.

Carothers is currently ranked No. 710 in the 2027 recruiting class and No. 39 among quarterbacks. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound quarterback is from Owensboro, Ky., where he attends Owensboro High School and is ranked No. 12 out of Kentucky.
Carothers had an eye-popping junior season after throwing for 4,001 yards, 49 touchdowns, and just eight interceptions. The 3-star QB completed 67 percent of his 424 passes, while also rushing for 114 yards and one touchdown. Before his junior season, he was a backup at Owensboro High School during his sophomore season, where he threw for 701 yards and 8 touchdowns on 68 pass attempts.
The Kentucky native has already earned eight offers, including from Kentucky, North Carolina, and Oregon State. It certainly stung to hear Sorgi decommit, but Brohm and Marrow wasted no time, and they like what they see in Carothers. It's also worth mentioning that they will have a 2026 4-star commit and now a true freshman, Briggs Cherry.
