Louisville football’s 2027 recruiting class is trending to be one of the best recruiting classes in program history. The Cardinals' top recruiting class in modern history was their 2027 class, which ranked No. 23 nationally.
Louisville football jumps Notre Dame in 2027 recruiting rankings after 4-star commit
As of today, Louisville has never had a class rank inside the top 20, but that might all change after the 2027 recruiting class closes. The Cardinals' 2027 class has been turning heads left and right and has been drawing national attention early on. However, recently the Cards lost a key commitment in 4-star quarterback Jack Sorgi, and Louisville fans saw their 2027 Recruit Football Team Rankings drop in On3 Sports and 247 Sports.
Louisville’s 2027 recruiting class takes slight hit after 4-star QB decommits
Earlier this month, the Cardinals saw their 4-star commitment decommit after he visited Wisconsin. His father, Jim, attended Wisconsin and played for the Badgers from 2000 to 2003, and now that Sorgi decommitted from Louisville, Wisconsin is the heavy favorite to land him.
When Sorgi committed to Louisville in June of 2025, he was unranked, but after he decommitted from the Cardinals, he was ranked as high as a 4-star recruit, No. 169 in the 2027 cycle, and No. 15 among quarterbacks. With his decommitment, the Cards have seen their recruiting rankings take a slight hit, but they are still trending toward making program history.
When Sorgi committed to Louisville, the Cards were ranked No. 5 by 247 Sports and No. 11 by On3 Sports. Now, after he decommitted, the Cards are ranked No. 7 by 247 Sports and No. 15 by On3 Sports. While the Cardinals did drop, it was by a slight margin, and with 4-star true freshman Briggs Cherry entering the program, the fans are not overly concerned.
Louisville has four 4-star commitments as of right now, including two Kentucky natives in Allen Evans and Jordan Haskins. Also, committing to Louisville as 4-star recruits are wide receiver Chuck Alexander and tight end D'Angelo White. The Cards have seven commitments, and Vince Marrow has publicly stated they are not done yet.
Louisville is now the dominant favorite to land 4-star wide receiver Ja’Hyde Brown after the Kentucky native decommitted from Indiana. The Cardinals might have dropped slightly in the recruiting ranks after Sorgi’s decommitment, but with Brown trending towards Louisville, and Louisville still a unanimous top 15 class, the Cards fans should be stoked with where this program is heading.
