Louisville football held its first fall camp practice on Thursday, and the Cardinals fans are excited to see what is to come in 2026. The Cardinals continue to fly under the radar, as Louisville was shockingly unranked in the preseason Coaches Poll, but with fall camp here, it means Louisville is one step closer to its Week 1 showdown with Ole Miss.
The story of the first fall camp practice was Isaac Brown on the sideline. The star running back missed today’s practice due to an injury. Jeff Brohm addressed it after practice at the media press conference, but just stated they need to get him a little bit healthier.
Another interesting sound bite from Brohm included the recent ruling where seniors from the 2022 class are eligible for a fifth year. This has college football teams considering additions to their rosters, and Brohm certainly left the idea of adding a player open.
Jeff Brohm confirms Louisville football is pursuing more players
For anyone who doesn’t know, a Colorado judge granted a preliminary injunction to outgoing seniors from the class of 2022, allowing them another year and a fifth year of eligibility. Brohm was asked about the situation and whether he is keeping his eyes open, and he made it clear that they have some targets.
"Yes, we have some targets there," stated Brohm. "For us, we're making sure that this ruling and the declaration of how this is going to work become fully clear. We're in position to do what we need to do, as long as everything gets approved by our conference, our administration. We want to make sure that we're on the up and up and we're doing things right, but there are a couple of young men that would fit that category for us that we've been in contact with”
So, this Cardinals roster might not be complete just yet, as Brohm reveals the team is in contact with a few players. Louisville and Brohm have already built an ACC contender, as the Cardinals have the third-highest odds to win the conference, but Brohm isn’t opposed to adding some extra pieces to make this team even better.
"As this continues to be allowed at other places and we don't think this is going to be overturned,” stated Brohm, “we will proceed down that route for sure."
As of right now, the Cardinals fans aren’t sure who Brohm’s targets are, but it is crystal clear Louisville is interested in adding some players and giving this team its best chance to win its first ACC Title and to make its first College Football Playoff.
