Louisville football held its first live scrimmage yesterday at L&N Stadium, and Jeff Brohm was quite pleased with the overall production he saw. The offense was consistent, and the majority of what was showcased was promising for the 2025 season.

Of course, all eyes were on USC transfer and Brohm's starting quarterback, Miller Moss. The 6-foot-2 quarterback has high expectations entering his lone season with Louisville, as the 4-star commit will have big shoes to fill after Brohm coached two first-year transfer quarterbacks to 3,000 passing yard seasons in 2023 and 2024.

Entering the 2025 season, Brohm has not been shy about vocalizing what Moss has to work on, and after the first scrimmage, Brohm appears to be confident in where his quarterback is, but still has a few areas of concern.

Jeff Brohm reveals Miller Moss must improve in pressure situations

Moss is coming off a big letdown season with USC after he was benched in the back half of the regular season and threw nine interceptions. The quarterback doesn't like to get under pressure, and when he is under pressure, he has a hard time escaping the pocket or playing up to his standard.

When Moss is under pressure in the pocket, at times, he must stay there and battle it out, remaining calm, cool, and collected, and avoid making a bad decision and rushing a throw. Brohm has made that clear so far in fall camp. In the first scrimmage, Brohm acknowledged that he still has room to improve, but he showed great poise and made strides in the right direction.

"I think he has great poise, and that showed up today," Brohm stated. "He's calm in the pocket. He can deliver the ball accurately when he knows where to go when things are in rhythm. Buying a little extra time, standing in there when things are getting bumped and jiggled around a little bit, where it doesn't happen quite perfectly the way we draw it up. He's got to continue to kind of feel his way through that and make good decisions and slide in the pocket, make a play."

He believes Moss was good yesterday and showed growth, and he has to clean up his ability to perform under pressure when the play gets disrupted, but the best way to perform better under pressure is in actual game situations. Brohm emphasizes that throughout all of fall camp, Moss has been doing everything they ask of him, but until that opening game against Eastern Kentucky, it will be hard for him to truly improve under pressure.

It will be crucial for Moss to stay calm under pressure. If Louisville wants a shot at history or a deep, meaningful season. The USC transfer quarterback must make good decisions, extend plays, and continue to grow from his past if Louisville wants a shot against Miami, Clemson and others.

Moss has shown he has a lot of potential and has flashes of brilliance. Louisville's offense is expected to be one of the best in the nation, according to defensive back JoJo Evans, and Moss is expected to have an All-ACC caliber season. If he can improve under pressure and learn from Brohm, the quarterback whisperer, then this Louisville 2025 season has the potential to be one to remember.
