The college football season is quickly approaching, as football fans saw the first NFL preseason game take place earlier this week, which means football isn’t too far away. Now, Louisville football fans are counting down the days for their massive Week 1 showdown with Ole Miss in Tennessee, as the Cardinals will look to pull off a major upset.
The Cardinals are led by head coach Jeff Brohm, who, of course, is a Louisville native and a former Cardinal himself. Brohm has been the coach at Louisville for three seasons, where he has taken the program to the next level, but now he and this fan base are starving for their first College Football Playoff berth.
The Cardinals have the potential to make their first playoff appearance, Louisville and Brohm just need to stay consistent to put together a full season. Recently, Brohm was on the ACC Network and was asked what his message would be to the fans, and he made it clear that it will be an exciting schedule and season for Cardinal Nation.
Louisville football's schedule should excite the Cardinals fans
Louisville’s schedule is very favorable for the Cardinals this upcoming season, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t challenging. Brohm’s message to Cardinals fans is that Louisville has a challenging but “great” schedule.
“Our message is let’s just get ready to play football,” stated Brohm on the ACC Network. “We think we got a great schedule. We play 11 Power Four teams. We are one of five or six teams in the country to do that. We think that’s great. Our fans love that. They are looking forward to playing a tremendous SEC team in Week 1, also an SEC team in the last game of the year. And of course, great conference games along the way. So, I think for us being competitive, playing the best, challenging yourself every week to step up and raise your level will excite our fans.”
Louisville’s schedule is loaded to start the year, as they face Ole Miss in Week 1 and then SMU in Week 3. The Cardinals also face Pitt, Georgia Tech and North Carolina State, who are no cakewalks this upcoming year.
Brohm is clearly excited about the schedule Louisville put together, as their nonconference games include two SEC teams, Ole Miss and Kentucky. This schedule should be fun for UofL fans, and now the consensus is that Louisville can put together a full season, play consistent football, and make the College Football Playoff.
The Cardinals have so much to look forward to this upcoming season, and Brohm knows what this team's true potential is. The schedule gives Louisville plenty of opportunities to prove they belong in the College Football Playoff, and now they have to take advantage of those chances.
