Earlier this week, Louisville football took the stage for ACC media day, and one of the players in attendance was the Cardinals' newest quarterback, Lincoln Kienholz. The Ohio State transfer comes to Louisville with a lot of pressure and high expectations, as he will be the Cardinals' newest starting quarterback in his first year.

Kienholz doesn’t have much college football experience, having thrown just 36 passes in his first three years with the Buckeyes, but he was highly recruited. He is a former 4-star recruit out of high school and was a dominant quarterback, throwing 86 passes in his final two seasons.

Now, the time is his, and Kienholz is excited to take the stage. While there is a lot of pressure on the new Cardinals quarterback, the good news is that he has a special running back room that is poised to take some pressure off his shoulders.

Kienholz has never started in a college football game before, and while he has the potential to be a star in the ACC, that is a lot of pressure on his shoulders. However, the Cardinals' running back room is one of the best in the nation, and this group of tailbacks is going to be Kienholz's best friends this upcoming season.

Louisville’s running back room is one of the best in the nation and will be the main point of attack on offense this upcoming season. When Kienholz was asked about the running back room, the 4-star transfer looked impressed and called the group “different.”

“It’s different,” stated Kienholz about Louisville’s dominant running back room. “I think we have two of the best running backs in the nation. I honestly just think we are blessed to have both of them. Both of them can probably be anywhere in the country right now, being highly touted running backs, but they both decided to stay here. It’s special.”

Kienholz is obviously talking about Louisville’s two-star running backs, Isaac Brown and Keyjuan Brown. Both elite running backs were on transfer watch this past offseason, and actually, Isaac announced he planned to enter the portal. When he announced that Brown was ranked as a top 15 transfer overall in the portal and was the No. 1 running back. However, Jeff Brohm and Vince Marrow worked their portal magic and convinced Isaac to return.

Now, Louisville has a dominant duo in its running back room, and it is a huge bonus for Kienholz. Having an elite running back room like the Louisville Cardinals has is huge for Kienholz and should allow plays to open over the top, without forcing Kienholz to throw the ball 40 times a game.

Louisville’s running back room recently was named the fourth-best running back room in the nation, and it is well deserved. Isaac had a historic freshman season, breaking multiple Cardinals records, and this past year, while he was sidelined for a few games, he still posted dominant numbers, averaging 8.8 yards per carry.

As Kienholz stated, this Cardinals running-back room is “different” and “special.” Louisville fans are excited for this upcoming season, and as the summer days pass, the Cards fans are counting down until that massive Week 1 game against Ole Miss.
