Louisville football fans are closely watching their 2027 recruiting class, as the Cardinals have one of the nation’s top recruits. Louisville native Ja’Hyde Brown is emerging as one of the nation's top recruits, as the 4-star wide receiver had an eye-popping offseason and carried that into a dominant senior season.

Louisville has a major fight on its hands to keep its top commitment Ja'Hyde Brown

Brown has emerged as one of the nation’s top rising stars, as the 4-star receiver was ranked No. 262 and No. 49 among wide receivers, but after this dominant stretch, he now ranks inside the nation’s top 40. With Brown’s eye-popping surge, he is now drawing attention from major programs, and unfortunately for Louisville and Cardinals fans, he is listening.

Rivals dropped a major update earlier today: Brown now has three official visits lined up, as the 4-star will visit Kentucky, Oklahoma, and Texas.

Ja'Hyde Brown schedules three more visits

Brown is coming off an official visit to Florida this past weekend, and after the visit, it was reported that other programs reached out and started making some noise with the 4-star. One team everyone is watching is Kentucky, and the Wildcats will host the 4-star next.

Kentucky and Will Stein will host Brown this weekend, October 10. After Brown’s trip to Kentucky, he will stay in the SEC, visiting Oklahoma on October 17 and then Texas on October 24.

The Louisville native is a speedy wide receiver eyeing history in his senior season at Christian Academy of Louisville. The state record is 30 receiving touchdowns in a season, but with Brown at 22 and a handful of games left, the Louisville commit is looking to etch his name into the record books.

Brown currently ranks No. 32 overall in the 2027 recruiting class, No. 5 among wide receivers and No. 2 among Kentucky recruits. He was originally an Indiana commit, but decommitted in late 2025 and then committed to Louisville soon after.

The 4-star has a chance to emerge as a 5-star in the 2027 recruiting class, but not if Brohm and Louisville have to do their best to avoid a nightmare scenario: Brown flipping to a different school. Brohm and Vince Marrow already lost 4-star Allen Evans to Vanderbilt, another Louisville native recruit, and now they must do whatever it takes to avoid losing Brown.

Unfortunately for Louisville, this recruiting battle is heating up, and Brown is officially on our flip radar. The 4-star wide receiver could become the Cardinals' highest-rated commitment in program history by the time he signs, but Louisville now has to fight off some major college football programs.
