When looking at Louisville’s 2027 recruiting class, there is one recruit who stands out from the rest. The Cardinals' 4-star commitment and Louisville native Ja’Hyde Brown is not only the Cardinals' top-ranked commitment, but he's also trending as one of the nation's top wide receiver recruits.

Louisville football 4-star commit Ja'Hyde Brown gets another major rankings boost

Brown had a massive offseason, winning MVP at the Rivals recruiting camp, and after his dominant performance, he jumped from No. 252 in the nation to No. 66. Now, the 4-star wide receiver has jumped again as he dominates his senior season.

With the Cardinals' 4-star recruit moving up in the rankings, Jeff Brohm must avoid losing his top commitment to college football giants. And those giants are coming.

Louisville's 4-star commit Ja'Hyde Brown on flip watch

This past weekend, Brown took an official visit to the SEC, as the Florida Gators hosted the 4-star. Now, following that visit, Hayes Fawcett reports that Florida isn’t the only one approaching Brown, as Ohio State, Kentucky, Texas, Georgia, and Ole Miss are all “pushing” to flip the Louisville native.

Now, many Cardinals fans already knew he visited Florida, but this is the first report that Brown is likely visiting Texas as well. Fawcett reports he is “100% committed,” but with the 4-star listening to other schools and taking visits, Louisville fans have a hard time staying calm right now.

The Cardinals must avoid this nightmare scenario, as the 4-star wide receiver is trending toward a potential 5-star rating in the 2027 class. Right now, Brown ranks as high as No. 32 in the nation and No. 5 among wide receivers, and with Rivals ranking the top 22 prospects as 5-stars, Brown is a recruit everyone is eyeing as a potential 5-star prospect.

Brown has been nothing but dominant so far this year, as he eyes history after scoring 22 touchdowns in just 17 quarters. He plays for Christian Academy of Louisville, and with 30 receiving touchdowns, the state record, Brown is on pace to break it and etch his name into the history books.

Louisville already lost 4-star quarterback Jack Sorgi to Wisconsin and 4-star Louisville native Allen Evans to Vanderbilt. Now, Brohm faces a huge battle, and he must find a way to keep Brown and avoid losing him to these SEC giants or to Ohio State.

Louisville currently has 18 commitments in the 2027 class and ranks No. 41 in the nation. Brown would make an immediate impact for Brohm and Lincoln Kienholz and be a top wide receiver in this Cardinals offense. The Cardinals need to do whatever it takes to avoid losing the hometown recruit and another major flip.
