Louisville basketball landed two commitments from the class of 2025, as one was their historic commitment from the consensus 5-star, Mikel Brown Jr., and the other was the 6-foot-11 recruit Sananda Fru. The Cardinals went for quantity over quality for their recruiting, as the two recruits are listed in SLAM's top 25, and both have a tremendously high ceiling.
Brown is the second-highest recruit to commit to Louisville, according to 247Sports. He was a McDonald's All-American and was ranked as high as the No. 1 point guard in the class of 2025. The future Cardinal is projected to be drafted in the top 10 for the 2026 NBA Draft and help lead the Cardinals to their first National Championship since 2013.
Fru is expected to be a crucial addition to the Cardinals' 2025-26 roster, as the 6-foot-11 forward is projected to be the Cardinals' starting center next season. In recent news, the German big man received a prestigious award.

Louisville basketball’s 4-star commit joins elite NBA company after top honor
The BBL announced that Fru was officially named the Basketball Bundesliga's Best German Young Player after his impressive 2024-25 season. The future Cardinal put up a stacked stat sheet in his final season with Lowen Braunschweig, as he averaged 12.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, 0.9 steals, and 1.6 blocks per game while shooting 66.8% from the floor, per Real GM.
The 6-foot-11, 240-pound forward's best game came against Veolia Towers Hamburg, when he earned a double-double with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Fru now joins an elite company for this award, as Dennis Schröder, Franz Wagner, and Daniel Theis are three NBA players who have also won it.
Fru will look to be a massive addition to the Cardinals' roster next season, especially after James Scott entered the transfer portal. The forward from Germany has a 7-foot-5 wingspan and will be a dominant two-way forward who is extremely athletic for his size.
