Louisville basketball has been soaring to new heights since Pat Kelsey arrived to the Cardinals program.

Cardinals are trying to rejuvenate their program and the class of 2025 seems to be all-in on Louisville. However, Cardinals fans received some devastating news as one of the highly-anticipated recruits seems to not be looking Louisville's way anymore.

Brayden Burries is a unanimous 5-star prospect out of San Bernardino, Calif. and is one of the top shooting guards in the class of 2025.

Burries recently dropped 44 points for Eleanor Roosevelt High School, in a state playoff game win. The 6-foot-5 , 200 pound shooting guard ranks as a unanimous top 15 prospect, and is a McDonalds All-American, and a top five finalist for MaxPreps National Player of the Year Watch List.

Burries top schools seem to be Tennessee, Alabama, Arizona, and Oregon according to 247Spots, Adam Finkelstein. Burries camp seems to believe he will announce his official commitment in upcoming weeks. Cardinals offered Brayden Burries an official offer back in April of 2024.

He is ranked No. 11 in ESPN, and 247Sports in the overall class of 2025, and ranks second in the shooting guard position. However, some unfortunate news for Cardinals fans as, the 5-star prospect seems to not be considering the Louisville Cardinals.

Louisville basketball recruiting update

So, while Burries seems to be out on the Cardinals, Louisville basketball fans still have much to look forward to.

Louisville basketball still is ranked No. 9 in class of 2025, as Pat Kelsey and his Cardinals landed Mikel Brown Jr. and are the frontrunner for Nate Ament. Joe Tipton reported earlier last week that he believes Cardinals are the favorite to land Ament, but it is really close with Duke and Kentucky.

Cardinals are the favorite to land No.1 overall prospect Tyran Stokes in the class of 2026, and a 4-star prospect out of Iowa United Prep from Des Moines, Ia., Arafan Diane.
