Louisville basketball is expected to be heavily involved in the Transfer Portal for the third straight season. Pat Kelsey has already lost two key pieces from the roster this past season, as Sananda Fru and Khani Rooths are reportedly planning to enter the portal, forcing Kelsey to be once again all-in on the portal.

Kelsey will try to work his magic for the third straight year and rebuild his roster, and On3 Sports reported that Louisville will back the Cards' head coach up and give him the NIL money he needs to win.

Louisville reportedly ready to spend big again in Transfer Portal

The Cardinals' season didn’t go how any Louisville fan had hoped, but Kelsey made it clear he understands the standard the fans set, and he won’t be satisfied until he sees the red, white, and black confetti. In this day and age, to compete for a National Title, it is all about the NIL money and the Transfer Portal, and On3 Sports reported that Louisville will give Kelsey back a wild amount of NIL money.

They reported that Louisville will be in the $8-10 million range, similar to last year, and that they can spend over $8 million and reach $10 million if needed. Last year, Kelsey showed what that type of money can get him, bringing in three top-25 players from the Transfer Portal in 5-star Adrian Wooley and 4-stars Ryan Conwell and Isaac McKneely.

The Transfer Portal will officially open on April 7 and will remain open until April 21. The Cards being in that $8-10 million range again will hopefully allow Kelsey to go get some big-time names like he did last year, while also adding depth with key bench pieces.

It won’t be an easy offseason for Kelsey, as Louisville, as of now, has lost eight of its top ten rotational players from this past offseason. So, Kelsey has a lot of work to do this offseason, and it's a crucial one, but it's reassuring to hear the Cardinals are backing Kelsey and the program up and will give him the NIL money to build another Final Four-caliber roster.
