College basketball fans are heavily involved in the high school recruiting right now as multiple notable camps and events just wrapped up. Following these major recruiting events, the recruiting rankings outlets tend to update their rankings, and 247 Sports did just that.

Louisville basketball is making a strong push for multiple recruits in the 2027 recruiting class. Pat Kelsey has been all over this summer, traveling to Virginia, Texas, and other states to watch in person some of the best high school recruits in this highly coveted 2027 cycle.

One of the Cardinals' top targets in the 2027 recruiting class is the 5-star phenom, Cayden Daughtry, and by no surprise at all, the star guard rose in the 247 Sports rankings.

5-star PG Cayden Daughtry rises in updated recruiting rankings

For those that aren’t heavily involved in high school recruiting or haven’t paid much attention this summer, Daughtry is coming off one of the best summer runs in recent memory. The 5-star point guard played for the Florida Rebels at Nike's Peach Jam event and broke the internet.

Following his dominant performance at the Peach Jam event, the 5-star guard soared in the rankings, jumping up from No. 9 overall in the 2027 cycle and No. 3 among point guards to the No. 3 overall recruit in the 2027 recruiting class, and is now the No. 2-ranked point guard, according to 247Sports.

The Louisville target had a historic run at the Peach Jam event, averaging a record-breaking 34.8 points in the five pool-play games. The No. 3 overall recruit scored a dominant 258 points across six days, while adding 49 assists, 34 rebounds and 23 steals in all eight games.

Daughtry went on to win the event's MVP award before the finals were even played, as he averaged 32.3 points per game while shooting 63 percent from inside the arc and a dominant 49 percent from beyond the arc.

The Cardinals are one of many programs making a push for the 5-star, and after this MVP run at the Peach Jam, more are likely going to try and join the race. Right now, notable programs in the mix for Daughtry include Kentucky, UConn, Miami, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Florida State, Virginia, BYU, and others.

Kelsey has shown a lot of interest in a lot of guards in the 2027 recruiting class, but Daughtry is emerging as one of the top targets for Louisville. On3 Sports reported last week that Louisville and Tennessee were the two teams Daughtry was hearing from most, and after this recruiting rise, hopefully Kelsey can find a way to land a visit.
