Louisville basketball continues to get excellent news and updates from the 2027 recruiting class, as Cardinals fans learned today that Louisville will get an official visit from one of the nation’s top guards. August has treated Louisville very well so far, as the Cardinals have made multiple top-ten recruits update recruiting lists.
Louisville learned that they are one of seven finalists for the 5-star point guard Reese Alston, and also learned just yesterday that they are one of 14 finalists for the No. 3 overall recruit, Cayden Daughtry. Louisville has been known to recruit guards heavily since Pat Kelsey arrived, and now it appears they are trending toward another 5-star guard, King Gibson.
247Sports Jacob Polacheck reported earlier today that Louisville is one of five schools scheduled to earn an official visit from the 5-star guard.

Kelsey appears to be in a heated recruiting battle with some notable programs, as UConn, LSU, Arkansas, and Baylor will also earn visits. Louisville is the first of the five to earn the visit, as the 5-star is scheduled to visit Louisville next weekend, Sept. 4-6. Following UofL’s visit, Gibson will then visit UConn, Sept. 13-15, then Arkansas, Sept. 21-23, and Baylor, Oct. 9-11, according to Polacheck.

Gibson is a highly recruited guard who has earned over 35 offers, including from major programs like Alabama, Houston, Kentucky, North Carolina, Indiana, and others. The unanimous 5-star guard is a consensus top-20 recruit in the nation and ranks as high as No. 5 overall and No. 1 among combo guards in the 2027 recruiting class.
The 6-foot-4, 185-pound combo guard is coming off an impressive year in which he averaged 15.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.4 steals per game, while shooting around 48 percent from the field and 48 percent from beyond the arc. He then played for Team United in the Nike EYBL Circuit and continued to turn heads, averaging 17.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game while shooting 43 percent from the field.
Louisville is looking to make a major splash in the 2027 recruiting class, and Gibson would be a historic commitment. The Cards have landed a 5-star in back-to-back recruiting classes, and while Gibson hasn’t cut his list down yet, earning an official visit next weekend is a great update for the Cardinals.
