Louisville basketball just got an update from one of the top recruits in the 2027 recruiting class. The Cardinals continue to make a major push with multiple 5-stars, including the elite point guard, Cayden Daughtry.
Daughtry emerged as one of the nation’s top recruits following an eye-popping offseason during his viral run at the Nike EYBL Peach Jam. Now, the 5-star point guard just updated his recruiting list, and Louisville got good news, as they are still in the mix after making it into his final 14.

Louisville makes Cayden Daughtry's final 14
It is good to hear the Cardinals are still in the mix for a top-10 recruit in the nation, but with the elite PG only cutting the field to 14, the Cardinals still have a long way to go. Daughtry is a unanimous 5-star recruit who ranks as high as No. 3 in the nation and No. 2 among point guards.
This offseason, the 5-star point guard rose in the rankings after dominating the Nike EYBL Peach event. Daughtry turned heads nationwide, averaging 32.3 points per game while shooting impressive splits of 56.3 percent from the field, 38.2 percent from beyond the arc, and 90.4 percent from the free-throw line. On top of scoring, he also averaged 6.1 assists, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.9 steals.
During the five pool-play games, the 5-star target rewrote the history books, as he averaged 34.8 points per game, which broke the previous record set by NBA player Cam Thomas. In his eight games, Daughtry scored 258 points and added a combined 49 assists, 34 rebounds, and 23 steals.
Following this monster performance, the 5-star has been heavily recruited, including by the Cardinals. Daughtry earned 33 offers from the top programs, and he is now down to 14. The final 14 include Louisville, Florida State, Florida, Miami, Iowa, UConn, Arkansas, Michigan, Vanderbilt, Villanova, Providence, Kentucky, Tennessee, and USC.
The Cardinals showed they can develop a 5-star into a lottery pick, as Mikel Brown Jr. recently went No. 6 overall, and it is now clear they are using that as their blueprint to land more 5-star guards. There is still a lot of work to be done with Daughtry's recruiting process, but it is good news for the Cardinals and their fans that they remain in the mix.
