Louisville basketball recently learned that its No. 1 addition this offseason, Flory Bidunga, will withdraw his name from the NBA Draft and will play for the Cardinals this upcoming season. Bidunga was ranked as a 5-star transfer and No. 1 overall in the Transfer Portal, but was also testing the waters of the NBA Draft to see where he was trending towards selection if he stayed in the draft.
Louisville gets the massive Flory Bidunga NBA Draft update they have been waiting for
However, with the NBA Draft deadline tomorrow, May 27, Bidunga ultimately decided to withdraw his name from the draft and officially transfer to Louisville. The Cardinals are now a legitimate Final Four contender, but Kelsey might not be done this offseason.
The Caedinals fans are looking to add maybe one more piece, and when thinking about who that could be, it is quite obvious.
Milan Momcilovic is Pat Kelsey and Louisville basketball's glaring No. 1 target
The dream scenario for Louisville fans is the Iowa State transfer Milan Momcilovic also withdraws his name from the draft, and then Kelsey finds a way to create a lethal frontcourt with Bidunga and Momcilovic. The Cardinals have been among the few teams often linked to Momcilovic, as many think Louisville is battling Kentucky and St. John's in the early stages.
With Bidunga officially returning, the Cardinals could use a 3-point specialist or a true power forward, and Momcilovic is a two-in-one package deal. The 5-star transfer was the best 3-point shooter this past season, making 136 3’s on 48.7 percent from beyond the arc. Both stats ranked No. 1 in Division I basketball.
Jeff Goodman recently stated that he believes Louisville and St. John’s are the early frontrunners, but also mentioned that if Momcilovic were to withdraw his name, Louisville fans should expect many more teams to enter his recruiting process.
Right now, it appears many believe the Iowa State transfer will withdraw his name from the draft, but nothing has been made official. Goodman made it clear multiple times that he thinks Momcilovic will withdraw his name, then asked 10 NBA executives what they think Momcilovic should do, and all 10 voted that the 5-star should return to college basketball and withdraw his name.
So, with Louisville officially learning Bidunga is a Cardinal, Louisville fans will now turn their attention to Momcilovic in the hope that the 5-star is the next big name to withdraw his name.
