Louisville basketball just made a huge splash yet again as the Cardinals landed former North Carolina star Seth Trimble. The 4-star transfer comes to Louisville after playing all four years with UNC and is coming off his best season yet.
The Cardinals have now added seven players from the Transfer Portal, including Trimble, who comes to Louisville following the “five-for-five” rule. The Cardinals have dominated the portal this offseason, earning the No. 1 Transfer Portal class, and now the question is: are the Cardinals done?
Well, according to college basketball insider Jon Rothstein, the Cardinals are one of the newest teams to reach out to Michigan State star Jaxon Kohler.

It is worth immediately noting that the Cardinals are at their limit with their NIL budget after Trimble committed to Louisville, but Kelsey has pulled off some magic tricks this offseason, and landing Kohler would be another massive addition.
Louisville is in a recruiting battle with major programs for the Michigan State transfer, as Kohler has reportedly heard from Kansas, BYU, and Kentucky. The power forward is one of the top targets in the portal following the “five-for-five” rule, and it appears Louisville has entered the mix.

The Cardinals made some major moves this offseason in their frontcourt, adding 5-star Flory Bidunga, 4-star Alvaro Folgueiras, 4-star Karter Knox, and 5-star recruit out of high school Obinna Ekezie Jr., but Kohler would bring a lot of spacing and physicality to the Cardinals, which they might need help with.
The 6-foot-8, 250-pound forward is coming off an impressive season with the Spartans, in which he averaged 12.5 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game. What makes him stand out, and why he would be a perfect fit for Kelsey and this roster, is his ability to knock down shots from beyond the arc.
This past season, Kohler splashed 58 3-pointers while shooting 38.9 percent from beyond the arc and 50 percent from the field. The Cardinals were all-in on trying to land 5-star transfer Milan Momcilovic, and with the sharpshooter committing to Kentucky, if Kelsey and Louisville have a way to land Kohler and to make it work, it would be a huge addition to the Cardinals' frontcourt.
He is a physical forward who rebounds at an elite level and, on offense, can space the paint for Bidunga and others, as he is a consistent shooter from outside the paint.
On3 Sports' Joe Tipton reports Louisville will “likely not pursue” Kohler following Trimble's commitment to the Cardinals, but it is something Louisville fans should keep a close eye on with the Cardinals in the mix.
