Louisville basketball fans are keeping a close eye on multiple recruits in the 2027 recruiting class. Pat Kelsey and the Cardinals are staying busy this offseason with recruiting, especially in July.

Kelsey has already been seen at multiple events this summer, recruiting some of the nation’s top prospects in the 2027 class. When looking at Louisville’s top targets and their big board in the 2027 recruiting class, multiple names stand out.

Louisville has been making a push for 5-star center Darius Wabbington and 5-star point guard Reese Alston, but one specific guard is making a strong case to be the top point guard in the 2027 recruiting class and the Cardinals' No. 1 dream target.

Cayden Daughtry just dominated Nike EYBL Peach Jam

For any Louisville or college basketball fan who has been following the Nike EYBL Peach Jam, Cayden Daughtry is a name that has been all over social media. The elite 5-star point guard has taken the event by storm and is quickly emerging as one of the Cardinals' top targets.

His dominant run at the Peach Jam was rewarded with him winning the MVP award before the final game even took place. Daughtry, through seven games, has been on a mission, averaging 32 points, six assists, four rebounds while shooting 58.7 percent from the field and 45.2 percent from beyond the arc.

Daughtry is one of the top recruits in the nation, and earlier this week, it was reported that Louisville is making a serious push for the 5-star guard.

“He wants me to come in and be the main guy,” stated Daughtry, according to multiple sources.

Following this dominant week, it wouldn’t be surprising if Daughtry climbs up in the 2027 recruiting class rankings, but as of now, the Cardinals target ranks as high as No. 9 overall in the 2027 cycle and No. 3 among point guards.

The 6-foot, 160-pound guard has already earned over 28 offers, including from big-time programs like Kentucky, UConn, Miami, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Florida State, Virginia, BYU, and many other notable programs. Now, Louisville is hopefully doing enough to advance to the next step in the elite 5-star recruiting process.

On top of it being reported that Daughtry stated Kelsey wants him to be the main guy at Louisville, the 5-star recruit reportedly also stated he plans to release his top 10 or top 12 by the end of the Nike EYBL Peach Jam event.

So, Louisville fans keep a close eye on this one, because he just dominated one of the biggest summer events, has everyone talking about him right now, and might be releasing his top 10 or 12 sooner rather than later. The Cardinals just proved they can develop elite point guards into a lottery pick, and now Kelsey has his eyes on his next elite 5-star point guard in the 2027 recruiting class.
