Right now, the Louisville Cardinals are trending to be a legitimate Final Four contender next season. Louisville basketball is having an eye-popping offseason as Pat Kelsey has landed nine commitments so far, including six from the Transfer Portal and three from the 2026 recruiting class.

The Cards are ranked as high as No. 5 in Fox's way-too-early rankings, and right now they are trying to make a real push to be a National Title contender. Kelsey’s roster is already looking loaded with talent, but all Cardinals fans are keeping a close eye on one specific player, Milan Momcilovic.

Milan Momcilovic must make his massive decision soon

Louisville fans have been starving for a National Title, as their last claimed title is 1986, and the last time they made the Final Four and won the National Championship game was 2013 (which was vacated by the NCAA). However, Louisville has a real chance of ending those droughts if Momcilovic returns to college basketball and Kelsey can work his portal magic one last time.

So, with Louisville making a strong push for a National Title, and Kelsey reportedly interested in Momcilovic, Louisville fans anxiously await the 5-star decision. The 5-star is going through the NBA Draft process, and was recently at the NBA Combine, but Momcilovic must decide whether he wants to stay in the NBA Draft or withdraw by May 27.

Recently, multiple sources predicted Momcilovic will return to college basketball, and if those sources are correct, Jeff Goodman stated he believes Louisville and St. John’s are the frontrunners. The Cardinals fans have made it clear they would like a pure 3-point specialist and another power forward, and if the stars align perfectly and Kelsey lands Momcilovic, then Louisville gets maybe the best 3-point shooter in college basketball and a 6-foot-8 power forward.

Louisville has a case to be a Final Four contender the way the roster stands, but if Kelsey and the Cardinals find a way to land the 5-star power forward, they would have a real case to be ranked inside the top five when the season starts.

If he does ultimately return, other teams will likely join the recruiting process, but right now, everyone is linking Louisville, St. John’s, and Kentucky with the 5-star power forward. It is a great time to be a Louisville Cardinals fan, and Pat Kelsey has this organization trending right where it deserves to be.

May 27 is inching closer and closer, Louisville fans, and hopefully, Kelsey can give Louisville fans one more thing to be excited for before the season begins.
