Louisville football just had its biggest day in the Transfer Portal so far as the Cardinals earned eight commitments. Jeff Brohm and the Louisville Cardinals staff landed three offensive and defensive linemen and two tight ends, bringing their total commitments to 12. Louisville had just four commitments entering Tuesday.
So, now that the Cardinals had a massive day in the portal, some fans may be thinking, "What is next?" Well, that is actually an easy answer. Entering the offseason, Louisville fans knew Brohm had to address multiple positions, but four stood out in particular. Quarterback, offensive and defensive line, and wide receivers.
Well, Louisville, of course, landed its QB1 in Ohio State transfer Lincoln Kienholz, and the Cardinals added three offensive linemen and four defensive linemen, but they still have yet to earn that wide receiver commitment.

Louisville football's No. 1 area of need is undeniable after massive day
It was no secret Brohm wanted to get his QB1 and then build around him. So, once Louisville got Kienholz, the Cardinals dominoes started to fall, and all that was seen yesterday. Louisville needed depth in both the O-Line and the D-Line, and adding three players in each position is huge for this Cardinals team.
But now the focus has to be on getting WR1. Not even WR1, just wide receivers in general. Louisville lost six of its top seven wide receivers and three of its top four tight ends. The only wide receiver or tight end to earn receiving yards in the 2025 season is Antonio Meeks, and Jaleel Skinneer, and they combined for 38 receptions and 393 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Louisville added depth for the tight end position as it earned two commitments yesterday, including 4-star tight end Brody Foley. The Tulsa transfer is ranked No. 61 in the portal and the third-best tight end in the portal after earning 37 catches, 540 receiving yards, and nine touchdowns. But, Louisville has yet to earn that first wide receiver commit.
It isn’t like Brohm isn’t targeting this position, as Louisville landed visits from multiple receivers, including Iverson Hooks and Jayce Brown, but the undeniable top target right now is Texas transfer DeAndre Moore Jr. Louisville fans have made it clear the past few days their No. 1 target after 12 commitments is the former Louisville commit and the Texas transfer.
Moore has logged a combined 77 catches for 988 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. He is the No. 11 overall player in the portal and the No. 3 wide receiver. He has visited Kentucky, Ohio State, and Louisville, and just wrapped up a visit to Colorado.
So, whether Louisville earns another massive splash and lands Moore, or they have a day like yesterday and earn multiple 3-star transfers, the Cardinals need to go get WR1 and need to add some depth in this dire area of need.
