Louisville basketball is making a push for 4-star small forward Boyuan Zhang. The 6-foot-7, 220-pound forward is from China and averaged 14.7 points and 5.1 rebounds a game last summer at the FIBA U19 World Cup. After that dominant performance, his 2026 recruiting rankings skyrocketed, and he now emerges as one of the top rising stars in this class.

Pat Kelsey and Louisville are making a strong push for Zhang, who visited this weekend. Louisville is in a recruiting battle for this elite scorer with Oregon, Illinois, Minnesota, and Cal, as all four programs have also hosted the 4-star for an official visit. Zhang averaged the second-most points per game in the Nike EYBL Scholastic League and now ranks No. 57 overall in the 2026 recruiting class and No. 20 among small forwards.

Jeff Brohm and Louisville football land another Transfer Portal commitment

Jeff Brohm and Louisville football saw the Cardinals' special teams struggle during the annual spring game earlier this spring. Louisville’s two kickers went 3-of-6 from field goals, making Brohm feel like he needs to go get another option and depth at the kicker position. So, Brohm hit the Transfer Portal once again, landing his 34th commitment from the Transfer Portal, Garth White.

White is a transfer from Rhode Island who played in all 14 games this past season, and went 14-of-18 on his field goal attempts, including 2-of-2 from 50 yards or further. Louisville doesn’t want another disaster game like against Clemson last season, when Louisville went 2-of-4 on field goals and 1-of-2 on extra points, so Brohm got some depth at the position.

Isaac Ellis reclassifies to 2026 recruiting cycle

Louisville basketball’s roster is beginning to fill up, as Pat Kelsey and the Cardinals learn Saturday that Isaac Ellis will reclass to the 2026 recruiting cycle. The 3-star 2027 recruit ranked No. 146 in the 2027 cycle, but now will join the Cardinals this offseason and will be part of Louisville’s backcourt this upcoming season.

There is a possibility he redshirts, but Ellis brings elite scoring to Louisville as the guard won the OTE MVP award this past season after averaging over 31 points per game. Ellis broke the league's record for most points in one game with 56 points, and his 18 assists broke the league's record for most assists in one game as well. Louisville is making a strong push to be a legitimate Final Four contender, and now Ellis is the latest addition to Kelsey’s dominant offseason.
