Louisville basketball has contacted multiple 5-star recruits in the 2027 recruiting class, including top-five overall recruit DeMarcus Henry. The elite small forward is one of the nation's top prospects, and Pat Kelsey has the Cardinals in a great spot right now.
It was reported Monday that UConn is no longer in the mix for Henry, cutting his list to just seven schools. Henry cut his list down to eight teams earlier this year, but with UConn landing a 5-star small forward on Sunday, the Huskies are reportedly out on Henry.
Now, that gives Louisville an even clearer shot at landing Henry, as the Huskies were one of Louisville’s biggest threats. The Cardinals have landed an official visit and visited Henry in September, so Kelsey has the Cardinals trending in the right direction. And with a commitment decision likely coming in November, this is one Cardinals fans should pay close attention to.

Louisville fans have a reason to believe this is the year for a Final Four run

4-star commitment Ja'Hyde Brown on flip watch
As for football, the biggest concern right now is the Cardinals' 4-star commitment, Ja’Hyde Brown. The Louisville native committed to the Cardinals earlier this year, but now he is on everyone’s flip watch. Brown has surged in the rankings from No. 252 in the nation to now ranking as high as No. 32 overall and No. 5 among wide receivers and is a recruit on 5-star watch.
However, with that surge, multiple SEC powerhouse programs are now contacting him, and after a visit to Florida, he just lined up three more visits, including one to Kentucky. Brown can make an immediate impact his freshman season, and the Cardinals must avoid the nightmare scenario of losing him.
