Earlier this year, Louisville made the final seven for one of their top targets, Reese Alston. The 5-star point guard is an elite guard whom Pat Kelsey has prioritized in the 2027 recruiting class all year. Now, On3 Sports Joe Tipton just reported that Alston's race has two clear frontrunners, as the Cards are reportedly in a heated recruiting battle with LSU.
Will Wade and the Tigers emerge as the Cardinals' biggest threat for the top 10 recruit right now. Since the summer, fans have heard three teams consistently brought up in Alston’s recruiting class, and Tipton now reports that two of them (Louisville and LSU) are clear frontrunners as we near a decision. Alston is a unanimous 5-star prospect who ranks as high as No. 9 overall and No. 3 among point guards.

Louisville football's ACC Title dreams
The Cardinals are on a two-game winning streak, but it appears they still face a steep uphill battle to return to Charlotte for the ACC Championship Game. While Louisville has a favorable schedule and is favored to win the rest of their conference matchups, the problem is that they don’t control their own destiny and need Wake Forest to lose two.
And when fans look at Wake Forest’s schedule, it's hard to circle two games the Demon Deacons could lose. Right now, Wake Forest is a dominant favorite on their schedule, with a 75 percent or higher chance of winning every game but one, and they are favored in every game. Wake Forest’s toughest remaining game is on the road against SMU, but otherwise they face Virginia, Merrimack, Duke, and Georgia Tech. So, if Louisville wants any chance at the ACC Title game, SMU needs to upset Wake Forest, and then the Cardinals might get help from Duke or Georgia Tech.
They aren’t officially out, but the odds aren't in Louisville’s favor as we enter our bye week.
